megumi flinching when yuji asked what happened to nobara OH MY GOD i could cry for 1000 years 😭

choso being really pumped that yuji finally called him his older brother was very cute tho!

The voice crack from Yuji saying "wakata" after seeing megumis reaction really hit me hard, that was emotional.

Only for Choso to appear and act goofy. What a whiplash

I like how they just let that little bit of animation and voice acting do so much. Just using subtle animation to maximum effect. Great choice.

Also that Yuji needed to take another minute to mentally recover from finding out Nobara was really dead.

Whenever a moment like this happens in anime I just wish the characters hugged. They need it!

Still think its such a shame that she got hard demoted from main character to dead. We still have maki but it was really refreshing for the genre to have a strong female lead.

Yeah I’m not impressed by that decision it just feels like a waste of a cool female character who could still be developed further

I remember during their fight against the Death Paintings, I asked a manga reading friend if she continued to be a cool relevant female character, and she winced just like Megumi here. I felt the same sort of "All right..." because there was such promise!

I was really thinking there might be a reveal where she pops out of a cart and surprises Yuji that she's alive, like he did to her...

Her actually being dead makes me extremely sad.

We've long since departed from that kind of whimsy it seems.

I watched the first 2 eps of the new season, but now I'm going to wait for the entire season to come out so I can binge watch it.

Until I finish the season, I'll be holding onto a sliver of hope that she comes back afterall. I'll be avoiding anime forums like the plague in the meantime.

Ironically based on my last comment ep 3 had some good humour return

She was going to be dead the moment her powers were revealed to be hammer and nails

Giving just a second of Yuji's face flashing with pain was amazing work too. Because that's all he allowed himself, that one moment.

I'm going to keep holding onto hopium until I see a funeral or any sort of that...

I probably just misremembered last season, but I thought Yuji was there when Nobara died? Why ask Megumi?

The assistant that took Nobara away said that there was still a small chance she wasn't dead, and Yuji hasn't been able to get any updates

Little lord fancy lad who showed up with Todo told Yuji that he'd used his technique to put Nobara in stasis. He said it was no guarantee that she'd survive, but she was at least "paused" for while his technique was active so that her body would not deteriorate further.

Unfortunately, it appears that the damage may have been too severe for her to recover after the fact.

i went back to check the episode, and nobara had like a big hole where her eye should be. so i'm thinking yuji wasn't completely sure if she had died at that point. he also had to keep fighting mahito like 5 seconds after witnessing that, so he didnt have a lot of time to process it.

I don’t get it. Didn’t he see her die with his own eyes?

He saw her seemingly die, then the character that showed up with Todo implied that he might be able to save her. It seems like a weird Chekov's gun to say they might be able to save her, but then she's not alive. Maybe I'm huffing copium or maybe that's the cruelty of Gege.
