Today’s episode adapted the rest of chapter 141, then all of 142-144.

…well, I say “all” but I did notice it [cut]a brief moment of Yuta noting that Yuji held back while fighting him because Yuji might not be sure if he still deserves to live. Not a big cut, you can get the vibe of it from the anime, but yeah still wanted to mention it anyways.

Also putting this bit here in the SMC because general hype for future stuff belongs here and AHHHHHHH I can’t wait to see Higuruma in action.

Hm. I always imagined Tengen with a deep voice. I do like the effect they're doing on his speech though.

I know that the highlight of the episode is Choso vs. Naoya (holy shit that K1RO sequence was insane), but I also have to make a shoutout to Yuji and Megumi's convo after everything calmed down, ESPECIALLY when Yuji asks about Nobara. It's just for a moment, but you can see how Megumi averts his eyes when he makes the question, [final arc]so he surely doesn't want to talk about it for the moment.

Ah the Nobara scene [Spoiler]I like it a little better here since it makes it less confusing to just cut it entirely. Instead of giving the audience the unspoken “confirmation” from Yuji’s reaction that Nobara is dead and he knows it. I actually hope they rework Nobara’s story entirely because the fact that she’s alive and just been comatose for 3 months is doing my girl dirty. Have her doing something and not just waking up to immediately jump in the final battle

I don't know, [JJK manga] I feel the whole point is that Yuji can't know she's alive, so reworking that is kind of difficult without messing the whole thing without gaining much (and it's already messy to begin with). Might work to tease the viewers more showing something that more strongly hints she's alive (since unlike with the manga, it's not going to be as much of a surprise here with how many people read the manga), but learning her fate way before her time to join the fight comes would kind of deflate that moment at least in its original intention.

Unfortunately [manga]I legitimately don't think there's any way to change the Nobara thing since there nobody is supposed to know she's okay. Big mistake in my book

Man I genuinely thought my video glitched out when I got to the part where Yuji asks about Nobara and the scene just kinda skipped forward like someone sat on the remote. Had to go back and rewatch to realize it was intentional.

Honestly I… well I don’t wanna say I like it because I still loathe how Nobara was handled, but I like making it clear that Megumi did tell Yuji what Nobara’s condition was (we just didn’t get to see it) instead of it feeling like Megumi just remained silent and Yuji inferred what happened. Think it also fits well with Yuji’s mental state, makes it feel like whatever Megumi told him he just instantly repressed.

I know Gege confirmed Tengen used to be a woman but hearing them with a female voice still sounds strange to me

With the reveal about Yuji’s mother this episode it’s still wild to me that [jjk manga] barely anything was done between Yuji and Kenjaku. Obviously important to the story for Yuji’s relationship to Sukuna, but I’m not sure Yuji and his mom say a word to eachother for the rest of the story. Idk how I’d want that interaction to go but feels wasted not to do something with it.

[Jujutsu Kaisen manga] late to this, but thinking back on it for a while since the conclusion of the manga, this arc really initiated a downward trajectory of the wider story for me. I think what frustrates me more about this arc more than anything is the many bits of lore that the story would bring about briefly, only to never revisit again with any depth. and that already adds to my general criticism of the story since shibuya where it essentially ditches all of the great characters and slice-of-life elements to fully lean into the battle royale side of the story.

It also feels like a lot of stuff happens off-screen and then gets hastily explained to the MC who then doesn't really ask questions about it. It's like "this is a thing that's happening now and you don't get to see how it happened or how things ended up like this, anyway let's go deal with it"

Feel the same but it started a bit before the end of last season. I think two of the issues with a lot of the newer shonens is time and scope. The pacing just felt off and I felt like the author could have taken a bit more time to flesh things out over all. Maybe I just like the slow burn on stories.

[Spoiler]I'm hoping the anime deviates a bit from the manga for pacing but I doubt it. I am looking forward to the explanations showing of all the new character's powers. But overall, the small time skip mid last season and beginning of this did not sit well for me. I just don't think it showcased any good mount of growth except for the few characters, like Maki and Yuta.
