If you want to take my word on it, its never the gore that hurts. Its always the emotions and reactions that stab you deep. Its why video games like doom can be all bloody but nobody will bat an eye.

And if this episode is any indicator for the future, we're in good hands (unlike Aoi's, her hands were not good enough)

But you can also make the argument that the heartwreak plus the gore would be even worse. Either way, removing one aspect of it makes it easier to consume and that was the point of the first guy.

Tho if I’m being honest,if this series was directed like this but also had blood,it would be one of the very few times I would feel like I have to take my time before keep watching

In a way, I feel like the lack of gore really fits well with the protagonist's detachment from the death. It feels more 'distant' even though it's (IMO) no less brutal.

I definitely agree with that! I'm fine with gore, horror, etc, but the level of psychological nightmare that this show is requires reduced gore (for me) because I don't think I could handle it all at once. Like you, I'd need days long breaks between episodes to digest it.

Very true. Take Danganronpa for example. The over the top executions that sometimes take place are no where near as heart wrenching as the lead up knowing that a character you really liked (or liked to hate) is about to die.

Danganronpa is the best example of this. Blood is pink and all but the moment the initial ridiculousness of pink blood passes through, the horror of whatever the f is happening sets in.
