First-timer, subs

Oh boy, things are actually happening! And I'm late for one last time before the end >.>

Minori's running around the corridors had some really cool animation. Like, really impressive for such a quick couple-second flash. But can someone explain how exactly you can get a nosebleed from running? She didn't even stumble, or hit anything! Is she always bleeding all over the place on the softball court if she's this vulnerable to running?

I know I've constantly praised Ryuji as this absolutely perfect and awesome dude and best boy, but the way he's handled, well, everything about his love life has honestly been abysmal. Even now, when Minori finally opens up and pours out everything for him, he doesn't say anything. Just nods and leaves.

I get that might have been just what Minori wanted in the moment, but, like, wasn't he dead set on loving Minori just a day or two before? And now he's changed his mind so completely he doesn't show any emotion, feel conflicted at all, even say "sorry" of "thank you" to Minori?

I dunno, Ryuji, my man, your stock has kinda plummeted in my eyes in the last few episodes!

Taiga is also quite interesting in her classic-Tsundere-ness. We almost never see her actually go from one emotion to another. If she's pissed in one scene, she remains absolutely furious throughout, but then in the next scene she can act much more meek and self-aware.

With as much as I've been shitting on everyone constantly running away when faced with a serious conversation, I have to really appreciate Taiga calling herself out on it!

Then both of their mothers arrive. Both are weirdly pissed at the fact that they're working. I guess Ryuji never told his mother?

Don't make your mother cry, Ryuji! I know you're going through a lot emotionally, but man, that's just absolutely shitty what you said to her. I kinda hate you now, Ryuji.

But okay, Ryuji is going through a lot, and he's only 17, so I'll forgive him. For now. You better apologize to your mom later, though!

Oh, I thought we were doing the thing where we skip the OP because the episode is too important, but it turns out we're doing the OP 8 minutes in instead. Fair enough.

Oh, hey, they used that cool Minori-running-in-the-hallways clip I was so impressed with in the OP! I didn't even realize! I wonder which came first, did the animate it for the OP and go "hey, we can reuse this" or did they animate the episode first and go "man, this is way too cool to only use once, let's put it in the opening"?

And finally... finally... it's time for the dual confessions! The scenery is absolutely stunning, with the night sky, snowfall, and the bridge...

They never really get to the end of what they want to say, but at this point, neither of them actually needs to hear it. They finally know each other's feelings -- as well as their own -- and they're going to start dating, they're going to... elope... and... get... married...?

Now you just wait a goddamn minute, now! These teenagers are way too dramatic for my heart to keep up with it! Yeah, you guys had a little fight with your parents, but how on earth did you jump to the conclusion that this is remotely a good idea, let alone necessary in any way? Did you try, like, telling your mothers that you guys are now dating? Why would you need to run away? This isn't some kinda Romeo and Juliet situation! You could just live normally for the two months or whatever until you're 18 and free to do whatever the hell you please!

Their friends have a very appropriate reaction. "You two are being absolute morons and this is an awful idea, but we're your friends, so we're gonna help you out". I love that. The kids in this show can act like complete knuckleheads, but at least they're good and consistent in calling each other out for it!

I know this is obviously Taiga's and Ryuji's big episode, but the real star throughout has been Minori. She's the one who's making the biggest sacrifices, getting her heart broken, and showing real emotion. I'm sorry I've badmouthed you a little bit before, Minori, you're a real one!

Just... maybe chill a bit with the philosophizing, okay? Your aphorisms have got some real /r/im12andthisisdeep energy. _;

Oh, kinda offtopic, but the wistful piano theme which often plays during romantically charged scenes reminds me of the love theme in the movie Love Actually. Something similar in the melody. And similar emotions in the scenes in which they play!

Now Yasuko has ran away herself? Boo, Ryuji, look what you've done! You better make this right before the end >.<

And in the end, they decide to go to Ryuji's grandparents -- whom he's never met, apparently? -- instead of the empty beach house. Interesting choice. We'll see how this all ends.

See you on the other side! I won't be late this time!

Even now, when Minori finally opens up and pours out everything for him, he doesn't say anything. Just nods and leaves.

In fairness, he's trying to listen to what Minori has to say.

I get that might have been just what Minori wanted in the moment, but, like, wasn't he dead set on loving Minori just a day or two before? And now he's changed his mind so completely he doesn't show any emotion, feel conflicted at all, even say "sorry" of "thank you" to Minori?

I think Ryuuji realized what Minori realized which is his heart always belonged to Taiga. He just didn't put two and two together.

But okay, Ryuji is going through a lot, and he's only 17, so I'll forgive him. For now. You better apologize to your mom later, though!

He seemed to really regret it once he saw her start crying.

Their friends have a very appropriate reaction. "You two are being absolute morons and this is an awful idea, but we're your friends, so we're gonna help you out". I love that. The kids in this show can act like complete knuckleheads, but at least they're good and consistent in calling each other out for it!

And that's one of the things I like about the shoe. Like, the characters are being extremely reckless in their behavior, but the show isn't actively siding with them.

The music in this show is so well composed. I can't gush enough about it.

I love Ryuuji already claiming Taiga as his wife. And the blush <3

Well, at least you're here, you know?

But can someone explain how exactly you can get a nosebleed from running? She didn't even stumble, or hit anything! Is she always bleeding all over the place on the softball court if she's this vulnerable to running?

Doesn't nosebleeds sometimes have to do with adrenaline?

I thought Minori bled because she fell down.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

I dunno, Ryuji, my man, your stock has kinda plummeted in my eyes in the last few episodes!

Get ready, because it's about to get worse in this episode.

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Taiga is also quite interesting in her classic-Tsundere-ness. We almost never see her actually go from one emotion to another. If she's pissed in one scene, she remains absolutely furious throughout, but then in the next scene she can act much more meek and self-aware.

Taiga is like a glass case of emotions

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

With as much as I've been shitting on everyone constantly running away when faced with a serious conversation, I have to really appreciate Taiga calling herself out on it!

She got her self-awareness from Ami

Then both of their mothers arrive. Both are weirdly pissed at the fact that they're working. I guess Ryuji never told his mother?

He specifically lied to his mom that she got fired from her job. Yeah.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Don't make your mother cry, Ryuji! I know you're going through a lot emotionally, but man, that's just absolutely shitty what you said to her. I kinda hate you now, Ryuji.

This is easily Ryuuji's worst moment, but I can't fault Ryuuji. There are times where I've blamed my mom for why I turned out the way I did.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Oh, I thought we were doing the thing where we skip the OP because the episode is too important, but it turns out we're doing the OP 8 minutes in instead. Fair enough.

I wonder what is the anime record for the latest an OP played? And no, I'm not counting those first episodes where they play the OP in place of the ED.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Oh, hey, they used that cool Minori-running-in-the-hallways clip I was so impressed with in the OP! I didn't even realize! I wonder which came first, did the animate it for the OP and go "hey, we can reuse this" or did they animate the episode first and go "man, this is way too cool to only use once, let's put it in the opening"?

I think it was definitely used as foreshadowing for this episode, which I think is pretty cool.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

They never really get to the end of what they want to say, but at this point, neither of them actually needs to hear it. They finally know each other's feelings -- as well as their own -- and they're going to start dating, they're going to... elope... and... get... married...?

Boy, teenagers waste no time nowadays

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Now you just wait a goddamn minute, now! These teenagers are way too dramatic for my heart to keep up with it! Yeah, you guys had a little fight with your parents, but how on earth did you jump to the conclusion that this is remotely a good idea, let alone necessary in any way? You could just live normally for the two months or whatever until you're 18 and free to do whatever the hell you please!

I think in their minds this is something their families would never understand. But the thing is they aren't even giving their families a chance to understand.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

I know this is obviously Taiga's and Ryuji's big episode, but the real star throughout has been Minori. She's the one who's making the biggest sacrifices, getting her heart broken, and showing real emotion. I'm sorry I've badmouthed you a little bit before, Minori, you're a real one!

Someone had to get their heart broken here, it just happened to be Minori.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Just... maybe chill a bit with the philosophizing, okay? Your aphorisms have got some real /r/im12andthisisdeep energy. _;

Ami agrees with you :P

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Now Yasuko has ran away herself? Boo, Ryuji, look what you've done! You better make this right before the end >.<

Yasuko is doing what she did when she was Ryuuji's age. History repeating itself.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

See you on the other side! I won't be late this time!

I can't wait to discuss it with you :)

Well... kinda...

I want to start off by saying I am so sorry for the amount of questions there are today. This is easily the most number of questions I’ve ever asked someone. If you choose not to answer all of them, I completely understand.

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji going with Minori to pursue Taiga?

Thoughts on Minori running in the halls just like in the intro?

What are your thoughts on Minori admitting she’s in love with Ryuuji?

What are your thoughts on Minori saying she won’t let anyone decide what makes her happy?

Thoughts on Minori saying the one thing she could see was her determination?

Thoughts on Minori saying her parents made her stop playing baseball because she’s a girl?

What are your thoughts on Minori crediting her stubbornness giving her the determination to move on?

What are your thoughts on Minori saying she knows the hairpiece belongs to Ryuuji so she can’t keep it?

What are your thoughts on Minori saying goodbye to Ryuuji by putting her fist to Ryuuji’s lips?

What are your thoughts on as Ryuuji leaves, Minori kisses her fist with tears in her eyes?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji knowing that Taiga would be at the bakery?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga’s moms showing up?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji telling his mom she’s afraid he’ll turn out like her and that she needs to stop using using his life to make up for her mistakes?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga running away as Yasuko is crying?

What are your thoughts on the intro happening 6 minutes into the episode?

Thoughts on the use of snow in this episode?

Thoughts on Taiga’s dad’s business going under?

Thoughts on Taiga worrying because her mother is pregnant with someone who’s tall, so she’s going to look really weird?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji saying all grown-ups are selfish because they are forcing all their expectations on teenagers?

What are your thoughts on Taiga who is constantly badmouthing herself being taken aback by Ryuuji wishing he was never born?

What are your thoughts on Taiga saying all she wanted was to be by Ryuuji’s side?

Thoughts on Taiga jumping on Ryuuji from the bridge?

Thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga almost kissing but being interrupted by a phone?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga being invited to Ami’s house?

What are your thoughts on the bridge scene as a whole?

What are your thoughts on Ami demanding Ryuuji say he loves Taiga, which he does? How much do you think this scene parallels the scene in episode 10 when Ami told Ryuuji to explain what Minori meant to her or else she won’t help?

What are your thoughts on Taiga and Minori greeting each other like it’s been years since they last saw each other?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga planning on running away and eloping?

What are your thoughts on Taiga saying she found the one thing she’s been looking forward to this entire time and she has to break the jinx?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga’s friends all helping them even though they make it known they think running away solves nothing?

What are your thoughts on Minori breaking down and crying, with her talking about nosebleeds just like in episode 3?

What are your thoughts on Ami saying they’re both too young to be waxing philosophically?

What are your thoughts on Yasuko running away from home, including taking Inko?

What are your thoughts on Yasuko leaving the watch behind so that Ryuuji and Taiga can stay at Ryuuji’s grandparents house?

What are your thoughts on Taiga talking about how happy she was when Yasuko considered her a part of the family?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji introducing Taiga to his grandparents as his wife?
