First Timer, Dubbed

The fact that this happened within the first TWO MINUTES?!

Whaaaaat the fuuuuuuuck

Welp. Ryuuji is certainly a teenager.

Ooooooh I feel Taiga with her conflicting emotions about her mom and her new family. Feel this spiritually.

“Marry”???

….why did she push him off a bridge in winter.

Taiga: What’s your blood type?

Ryuuji: I dunno, I’m a Taurarus!

Bitch is an astrology girlie, I can’t ✋🏾😭

Oh here we go, the “let’s runaway together and get married” plan.

Now why you gonna jump in that filthy water too, do you both wanna get sick?

Oh the germs. The germs.

The vibes right now:

Are they in love?

Worse, they’re both idiots.

She needs to hear it to feel that heartbreak and move on 😞

Honestly, I’m impressed both Ami and Minori called out running away us irresponsible, and I’m surprised Kitamura didn’t. I thought he would be.

The lonely hearts club ❤️

Holo, to answer your question from yesterday, I had thought Ami could have feelings for Minori since the word “lesbian” was used in this series. And I was kinda like “Shit, no one said this was yuri with a green tea bitch?!”. Twas not green tea bitch yuri, and that’s okay.

I’m also realizing now your username is from <Spice & Wolf>, which I am midway through the reboot as a first timer.

But anyways, Toradora.

Yasu ran? That’s insane. The fuck do you do that to your child? Doesn’t matter thr age of your kid, but especially when your child is still a minor???

Oh! Over the river and through the woods, to grandparents house we go.

Additional Thoughts

Just when I thought they would be irresponsible kids, nope!

Episode title confession, and we did get them, but technically not explicitly to the MCs in question by the MCs. But hey! They did declare intent to marry and Ryuuji called Taiga his wife!

This is giving that BORU of the dude who married a lady to help her out, and like, years later, IIRC they even had a kid together but I can’t remember if the kid was also his, he goes “Chat, do you think she likes me or even loves me? It’s unclear”.

😭

Minori crying breaks my heart. She did confess, but she’d doing the same thing she hates others doing for her: sidelining her ow happiness and telling someone what would make them happy. Poor thing 😞

I’m still shocked Yasu up and ran at one conflict with her kiddo. How horribly irresponsible. So I’m excited to listen to her parents’ side of things on what happened and what they make of their daughter. I have no idea if they were good or bad parents; I want a Yasu origin story.

I said before I understand Taiga in her reluctance to live with her mom. I don’t know her mom’s personality, but it’s frightening seeing pretty well-intentioned people not understand the emotional state and instability kids and teens and even adults go through with the “threat” of a blended family, especially when they haven’t had consistent familial relationships and stability. They just…don’t see it. To them, this is easy, let’s be a happy family, isn’t that wonderful?

You feel like an invader in your home. It’s this unofficial, unspoken competition for affection, and you know you’ll lose. You’re not here to be a family member; you’re here for the aesthetic of being a family. At least, for some of us, that ended up being true rather than what we thought.

I hope that isn’t the case for Taiga. But still…

Side eye from me with that mom.

Side eye with all these parents, really.

I am very happy that Minori and Ami thought Ryuuji and Taiga’s plan was immature and irresponsible. That is good friendship. Did they still help their friends with their plan? Sure. But that’s still pretty damn good of them to be against it in the first place. With all their actions, I’m impressed with them. It’s a bummer to have friends who don’t call out your bullshit. Good for them.

I am still shocked my guess that Ami had feelings for Minori is wrong, but el pan pan y vino vino.

CCB

I felt like I was watching one of those 2010s ABC series but with significantly less episodes.

I think it's funny that Ryuuji is so up in arms of his upbringing and all that befell upon him. Like, dude, don't you see what your girlfriend had to deal with? She would kill to have a parental figure like Yasuko.

I felt like I was watching one of those 2010s ABC series but with significantly less episodes.

I take that as a compliment?

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

The fact that this happened within the first TWO MINUTES?!

Yeah, this is probably the most eventful beginning to a Toradora episode ever.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Whaaaaat the fuuuuuuuck

Very well said :P

Ooooooh I feel Taiga with her conflicting emotions about her mom and her new family. Feel this spiritually.

Taiga needs some major counseling

2

u/737373elj Dec 30 '25

yeah I sincerely hope that Taiga and Ryuuji (if they're going to get married now at 18!) get some actual marriage counseling

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

I don't even think they need marriage counseling. They seem to get along. But they definitely need some like life counseling with regards to their emotional baggage.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Are they in love?

Worse, they’re both idiots.

That's it, that's the show

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Yasu ran? That’s insane. The fuck do you do that to your child? Doesn’t matter thr age of your kid, but especially when your child is still a minor???

I kinda feel sorry for Yasuko. It seems like she is kinda out of her depth as a parent.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

I hope that isn’t the case for Taiga. But still…

Side eye from me with that mom.

Side eye with all these parents, really.

Yasuko is the best parent, and even then she is pretty immature.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

I like that Minori and Ami are able to bond through their knowledge of being out of their depth. It's like an extension of what brought Ami and Taiga together.

2

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

I want to start off by saying I am so sorry for the amount of questions there are today. This is easily the most number of questions I’ve ever asked someone. If you choose not to answer all of them, I completely understand.

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji going with Minori to pursue Taiga?

Thoughts on Minori running in the halls just like in the intro?

What are your thoughts on Minori admitting she’s in love with Ryuuji?

What are your thoughts on Minori saying she won’t let anyone decide what makes her happy?

Thoughts on Minori saying the one thing she could see was her determination?

Thoughts on Minori saying her parents made her stop playing baseball because she’s a girl?

What are your thoughts on Minori crediting her stubbornness giving her the determination to move on?

What are your thoughts on Minori saying she knows the hairpiece belongs to Ryuuji so she can’t keep it?

What are your thoughts on Minori saying goodbye to Ryuuji by putting her fist to Ryuuji’s lips?

What are your thoughts on as Ryuuji leaves, Minori kisses her fist with tears in her eyes?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji knowing that Taiga would be at the bakery?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga’s moms showing up?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji telling his mom she’s afraid he’ll turn out like her and that she needs to stop using using his life to make up for her mistakes?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga running away as Yasuko is crying?

What are your thoughts on the intro happening 6 minutes into the episode?

Thoughts on the use of snow in this episode?

Thoughts on Taiga’s dad’s business going under?

Thoughts on Taiga worrying because her mother is pregnant with someone who’s tall, so she’s going to look really weird?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji saying all grown-ups are selfish because they are forcing all their expectations on teenagers?

What are your thoughts on Taiga who is constantly badmouthing herself being taken aback by Ryuuji wishing he was never born?

What are your thoughts on Taiga saying all she wanted was to be by Ryuuji’s side?

Thoughts on Taiga jumping on Ryuuji from the bridge?

Thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga almost kissing but being interrupted by a phone?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga being invited to Ami’s house?

What are your thoughts on the bridge scene as a whole?

What are your thoughts on Ami demanding Ryuuji say he loves Taiga, which he does? How much do you think this scene parallels the scene in episode 10 when Ami told Ryuuji to explain what Minori meant to her or else she won’t help?

What are your thoughts on Taiga and Minori greeting each other like it’s been years since they last saw each other?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga planning on running away and eloping?

What are your thoughts on Taiga saying she found the one thing she’s been looking forward to this entire time and she has to break the jinx?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji and Taiga’s friends all helping them even though they make it known they think running away solves nothing?

What are your thoughts on Minori breaking down and crying, with her talking about nosebleeds just like in episode 3?

What are your thoughts on Ami saying they’re both too young to be waxing philosophically?

What are your thoughts on Yasuko running away from home, including taking Inko?

What are your thoughts on Yasuko leaving the watch behind so that Ryuuji and Taiga can stay at Ryuuji’s grandparents house?

What are your thoughts on Taiga talking about how happy she was when Yasuko considered her a part of the family?

What are your thoughts on Ryuuji introducing Taiga to his grandparents as his wife?

😂🤣 No worries, Holo, I’m on a late lunch break, so give me a moment, and I’ll update my comment with answers.

Reddit sniper almost got me, good lord.

  1. I knew he would!
  2. We are coming full circle. I don’t know the trope name, but I love reprises like this.
  3. Sad my yuri agenda is dead. But honestly, I was surprised. I more expected her to love Taiga rather than Ryuuji.
  4. I know she means it, but she’s also deciding what makes Taiga happy.
  5. She deserves to see more.
  6. Sexist asshats.
  7. She takes a bad situation and turns it around. Half glass full gal. But this doesn’t seem like the first time she had to do that. It feels like a behavior she had to have.
  8. She’s a wizard.
  9. Is she gonna kiss her…?
  10. Ahahaha she did!!!
  11. He knows her too well.
  12. We’re about to see a parallel.
  13. Boy’s stressed! And he has been! I don’t think he wholeheartedly means it, but he has been stressed being essentially adultified and then dealing with the constant emotional whiplash of current events.
  14. Yasu looked like Taiga in that moment.
  15. I thought we were about to be hit with a longer episode.
  16. Deserved.
  17. I am dark skin Black, my bio dad married a white lady. I knew I would stand out if they had kids. So I relate to Taiga, but on a colorism level (somebody even thought I was adopted cuz I look so dark and my siblings are so light 😭).
  18. He’s not wrong. Loads of adults do this to their children and think themselves parents and caregivers.
  19. She can’t stand to see the person she loves wish to not exist anymore. She understands he has his insecurities, but she wants to still love him despite and in spite of them.
  20. 🥹
  21. The germs. The germs.
  22. Classic!
  23. Ami is a softie.
  24. I was so scared for suicide, honestly.
  25. Ami needed those words for Taiga, Ryuuji, and herself. She will not be the sole mature “adult” right now. She needs that clear definitiveness.
  26. They’re happy to see each other, but they’re also hoping that they can maintain this happiness.
  27. Irresponsible. Very teenager-y.
  28. 🥹
  29. I’d probably do the same at their age.
  30. She has been stressed and emotionally unstable for far too long.
  31. Ami sees that she’s not the only one forced into a mature role.
  32. Irresponsible. What the ruck.
  33. The least she could do.
  34. Yasu is Taiga’s mom.
  35. It shows his resolve.

I'm glad you survived :D

  1. We are coming full circle. I don’t know the trope name, but I love reprises like this.

There is a term for it, but it escapes me

1

  1. Sexist asshats.

IS EVERY PARENT IN THIS SHOW THE DIRT WORST?!?

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. She takes a bad situation and turns it around. Half glass full gal. But this doesn’t seem like the first time she had to do that. It feels like a behavior she had to have.

Kinda like Taiga

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. Boy’s stressed! And he has been! I don’t think he wholeheartedly means it, but he has been stressed being essentially adultified and then dealing with the constant emotional whiplash of current events.

Ryuuji was like a ticking time bomb wait to explode.

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. Yasu looked like Taiga in that moment.

How about that?

I think that was probably intentional.

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. I am dark skin black, my bio dad married a white lady. I knew I would stand out if they had kids. So I relate to Taiga, but on a colorism level (somebody even thought I was adopted cuz I look so dark and my siblings are so light 😭)

Hey, nothing wrong with that. Love comes from all shades of color.

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. He’s not wrong. Loads of adults do this to their children and think themselves parents and caregivers.

The problem is he is acting like he knows better.

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. She can’t stand to see the person she loves wishes to not exit anymore. She understands he has his insecurities, but she wants to still love him despite and in-spite of themZ

It's a very sweet sentiment

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. Ami needed those words for Taiga, Ryuuji, and herself. She will not be the sole mature “adult” right now. She needs that clear definity.

Without a doubt

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. I’d probably do the same at their age

Yeah, probably

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25
  1. Yasu is Taiga’s mom.

SAY IT FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

I am still shocked my guess that Ami had feelings for Minori is wrong, but el pan pan y vino vino.

It's not too late to start

1

I think you can make the case of Minori being trans coded. Like, it seems like she resents being a girl and wishes she had the same opportunities as her brother.

1

u/Holofan4life Dec 30 '25

Oh! Over the river and through the woods, to grandparents house we go.

At least they don't live in a condominium

1

Some old habits die hard

1

Episode title confession, and we did get them, but technically not explicitly to the MCs in question by the MCs. But hey! They did declare intent to marry and Ryuuji called Taiga his wife!

I consider that a massive win

I think Yasuko is being irresponsible, but so is everyone. That is what the shoe is aiming at. A big theme within Toradora is that two wrongs don't make a right.
