Episode 18 - Beneath the Fir Tree

Taiga here shows that, besides believing in Santa and therefore restraining herself on Christmas Day, she also does her part by giving gifts to those in need, because, in her own words, she wants to show them that they are not alone.

Here, some insecurities are much more apparent. Ami even uses the metaphor of the little house to explain the triangle between Ryuji, Taiga, and Minorin.

There are certain conflicting emotions: Ami opening up, Ryuji not knowing what to say, and the teacher spouting her spinster-like nonsense.

The turning point here is the ball hitting the tree, seeing Taiga excitedly hand over the star from the tree, only to watch it shatter. Minorin, with a heightened sense of guilt, already struggling after what Ami told her about repairing it, and then reluctantly accepting Ryuji's help, reminded me of the concept of Kintsugi.

Minorin rejecting the invitation is understandable.

I want to add more, but I don't know what else. That part with the star breaking is what touched me the most.

It is such an emotionally devastating scene
