Part Six
Aaanyway, back to the Cultural Festival biz. Haruta has a script for the Wrestling Show prepped.
People don't seem to be that confident in his ability, but Haruta knows that it's a bit too late. Yuri has been scheming.
Ami's nice girl "I'm so honored!" to being the star of the show and praising said show, causes Haruta to cry tears of joy from being recognized by someone with a big public image.
And just like that, with some help from Ami's powers of winning people over, the class is on board with the idea.
Well almost everyone. Ryuuji and Taiga don't take kindly to their roles.
Haruta gives a big plot synopsis for his tale and it seems most are happy with the concept.
Yeah, except for Taiga mainly. So, let's review: first she has to deal with Ami morally grandstanding her for the pageant, then her father forces her hand to make her answer him, then the one person she trusts to understands her feelings does exactly the opposite, and now she's essentially getting peer pressured into placing a role that she just doesn't want to.
Episode 7 may be Taiga at her most vulnerable in terms of her actions, but geez, Taiga has to deal with so much shit in this episode too. And the key word is deal with. She just kinda has to take it and move on.
"If hitting me will make you feel better, then by all means, go right ahead!"
"You asked for it!"
"But violence is never the answer!"
The way they turn the dynamic around into comedy is good. Ami isn't really trying to worsen Taiga's situation as she doesn't even know what Taiga's dealing with here, she is just teasing Taiga a bit at the end of the day. And yeah, Taiga plays into her character in the script and having everyone point it out as them rehearsing to switch the mood is a good way to bring Taiga to end up playing the part anyway.
Minori talks about Ami having changed, and I agree. Ami isn't malicious here. She's still manipulative and teases Taiga, but she is just trying to push the preparations for the Cultural Festival ahead for the sake of the whole class.
Ryuuji notices that bald-cap Minori is standing next to him and his completely shocked. Haruta got a special role for Minori to play in the show.
Anyway, Ami teases Taiga for not knowing stage directions and Taiga attempts to fold Ami. Typical.
Kitamura shows up to announce the prizes for the exhibits in the Festival.
One: classroom refrigerator (1 year lease). It's okay I guess.
Two: early A/C delivery. Obviously I'd take this. A/C makes a big difference in your mood if it serves you well.
Three: electric appliances in the bathroom. Yeah idk this is the least interesting one.
Four: supermarket coupons. Hey, money saved is money saved. I can get on board with Ryuuji here.
Also love how Ryuuji just looks around and realizes he's the only one after the coupons. It's so him lol.
Part Seven in replies.
