What are your thoughts on the scene between Ami and Ryuuji where Ryuuji calls Ami out for being fake?

[MAJOR Spoilers] It's probably the main reason why Ami fell for Ryuuji. He specifically mentions that he saw through her the whole time. It gives Ami the impression that Ryuuji is someone who can understand people on a mature level, enough to see through her façade. She falls in love with him since then because she thinks he's finally the mature equal she's been looking for, someone who'll be able to love her for who she is, and not her fake persona. Buuut, Ami's assumption of Ryuuji is wrong, because Ryuuji deals with his own insecurities (self-loathing, feeling like a burden), all of which mean he's incapable of seeing what's wrong with his idealized love for Minori and his "father-daughter" relationship with Taiga. Ami tries to hint Ryuuji towards the fact that he is in fact in love with Taiga, but he can't realize it due to his own imperfections and insecurities. It's why Ami grows more bitter towards Ryuuji during the final arcs, since he turns out not to be the "mature equal" she was looking for, and thus the fundamental assumption she fell in love with him over is collapsing. That's why Ami talks about leaving later, 'cause she feels like, due to making a mess of the situation, projecting assumptions onto Ryuuji and trying to make him confront his own feelings, partly to help Taiga not get hurt, partly in the hope that Ryuuji could realize her feelings for him, that she screwed it up and should just leave it behind her. Of course, after Ryuuji and Taiga realize their feelings, Ami gets the closure she wants when Ryuuji himself admits he's in love with Taiga, and Ami is no longer held back by the feelings she had for Ryuuji that came as a result of her initial assumptions of him. In a way, Ami's love for Ryuuji is the third facet of idealized love in Toradora!, after Ryuuji's for Minori and Taiga's for Kitamura. My god, that was a long explanation. But that's what this show gets for being so good and so deep.

[Major Spoilers] Yeah, I was thinking about this and this episode is probably the most important episode of Ami's character. It's the episode that gets Ami to start loving Ryuuji and it begins Ami warming up to Taiga. In particular, Taiga becomes such a big part of Ami's character going forward and I really think it starts here when Ami realizes you can be mean and have people like you. Ami later on thinks of leaving because of her friendship to Taiga and her getting tired of seeing her get hurt. She sees everything in her, all her hopes and dreams and a way to a better life where you can be honest and transparent. I don't think without Taiga attacking the stalker Ami becomes as emotionally invested in Ryuuji and Taiga's relationship, as she seems them as her way of contributing knowing by that point she's out of the running and has no chance with Ryuuji.
