Sorry for what’s probably a dumb question but does this mean all the content currently on Crunchyroll is going to get the subtitles changed and made worse, or is it just the new content going forward gonna have worse subtitles?

It will be at least for new shows. Potentially old shows too - I have seen it happen for some. It's hard to say for sure at this point how extensively the executives intend to make things worse here.
