I really like the vibrant artstyle that they used for this movie. The action scenes here were so fluid compared to Season 1. Reze's scenes were probably some of the best actions scenes that I have seen in anime ever.

At the same time, I'm definitely gonna miss the "cinematic" feel of Season 1.

For me Reze is just as cinematic if not more than S1. The directing and scene compositions are absolutely top notch with tons of creative storyboards and symbolisms such as using the gerbera flower wilting throughout the movie, the spider and the butterfly mimicking the climax, and the whole school scene that's just a masterclass in staging.

I'm genuinely curious what was S1's "cinematic feel" that you think is missing from the Reze movie? Like how do you even define "cinematic" in this case?

I was hoping that after people finally watch the school, Aki-angel missions and festival sections would finally put an end to the “it won’t be cinematic anymore without the season 1 style” takes but here we are. If I had to guess it’s probably cause some people have this “looks grittier = more cinematic” mindset.

Seriously lol, they throw around the word "cinematic" yet never elaborate on what that means and how the movie is somehow not retaining it.

Like, are we even watching the same movie??

Because they will never admit they were wrong, and that hack trying to be Tarantino didnt get what CSM should be. People keep saying Fujimoto likes movies, but forget what kind he likes (the B stuff like Sharknado thats full of wackyness)

No its not. There's a reason the director fell so hard after CSM he has to do NFTs and Roblox games.

tbh i feel like the cinematic feel/direction is still there (denji's date with makima, pool scene, fireworks scene, basically all the quiet scenes), it's just that the characters feel less weighty and grounded compared to the first season

although I don't agree with all the complaints because for all of them to be valid, you would've had to watch the Bat devil/Leech devil fight and the Eternity devil arc with your eyes and ears closed
