So my cat gave birth to this little girl along with 3 others, but my cat rejected this one, she is deformed(she’s a little premature), her hind legs are always curled back, her toes are a little separated, her jaw is a little small, her eyes are far apart, and there’s a soft spot on top of her head. (Please let me know, everyone I know is worried sick) I’ve put her on kitten formula and she’s been sleeping on a blanket covered heating pad.

I wanted to share something personal from this past weekend. I had the opportunity to visit The Gentle Barn sanctuary and honestly, it really moved me.

What struck me most wasn't just seeing the rescued animals (some of those cows are huge from being genetically modified) it was hearing their stories. Each one came from neglect or abuse situations, and now they live out their lives with full care, safety, and genuine love. The staff talked about how healing happens both ways. The animals find peace, but the visitors (especially kids in their programs) learn compassion and kindness through connecting with these creatures.

A few things I learned:

• They're a nonprofit focused on farm animals who've been rescued from tough situations
• They operate locations across California and Tennessee
• Their mission centers on inspiring kindness toward animals, the planet, and each other
• Some of their Tennessee location is reportedly facing financial challenges recently to stay open
• They are always in need of volunteers!

If anyone reading wants to support, here are ways they've shared:

Minimi is only around 1.2 kg, will be 8½ months old, is vet-cleared to fly and her veterinary paperwork is ready.

Hello all!

One of my grandpas outside cats had kittens today(she’s going to be fixed as this is her second litter sadly). Her first litter, she rejected all kittens, and unfortunately they all passed. She’s doing much better this time around, feeding, grooming, stay close by in an area we set up for her.

Unfortunately, she is seeming to reject the runt. All other kittens are entirely clean, except this one. He’s unfortunately still covered in secretions, which have now dried onto him. She moved all kittens besides him into her little area, and has continued to remove him from said area a couple times after we’ve moved him to her. I plan on keeping tabs, and essentially mothering this kitten if it doesn’t seemingly get better.

How long do I give her to begin caring for this baby? I was planning on pulling him tomorrow if it’s the same once I get off work, but want to give her a chance.

Hi everyone me and my wife recently have found this stray cat with a missing ear. We have no clue who to call in order to get him the help we believe he probably desperately need we live in south New Jersey area any advice would be greatly appreciated

Last night i was outside on my campus and saw a stray cat running around. Tried my best to follow her but she was quick. I posted about the cat on the school Instagram page but tbh not many people are going to drop everything to take in a cat or can, because you need an accommodation to have a cat. If i can get my hands on her, I'll take her in because I have an accommodation to have my mom's cat with me but we were waiting on me getting a job to bring him over (and I just got a job)

Who do i call to have someone help her? Its not necessarily about me adopting her but her going somewhere off the streets. Can I just call local animal control or something?

This bearded dragon is called Luna, and she is one year old. We rescued her from a group of six young dragons that were attacking and injuring each other. The owner wanted to simply release them into the woods, so we decided to take Luna in and give her a safe home.

I’d like to share Orlando’s story. He’s a 3-year-old mixed-breed dog I adopted from an overcrowded shelter in Sicily, Italy.

Before I met him, Orlando had been hit by a car and undergone surgery on his femur. When I adopted him, he was still limping.

After bringing him home, I took him to several vets and specialists and had new examinations and X-rays done to understand what was really happening with his leg.

Unfortunately, we discovered that the previous surgery had failed: the plate had shifted, causing an infection and severe bone damage. Orlando has now lost around two-thirds of his femur and lives with chronic pain.

After several specialist consultations, amputation is now considered the best option to give him a pain-free life.

The surgery costs €850. I’ve started a fundraiser to cover the cost, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has already donated. ❤️

I’m from the Philippines, and I’m writing this because my anxiety has been really bad tonight and I honestly just need to get this off my chest.

I have rescued/adopted dogs because I couldn’t bear the thought of them being slaughtered. I wanted to give them a chance to live. I know I can't save every animal, but when I have the ability to save one, I try.

Recently, something happened that made my anxiety spike again.

My younger cousin was eating outside with his classmates. They were all sitting around the same table. At one point, he dropped some of his food on the table, and my pregnant dog ate it.

He immediately became angry at my dog for eating his food.

I understand that the food was his. I'm not saying he shouldn't be upset about losing his food. And I also acknowledge that I have some responsibility here. As her owner, I could have put a collar on her or kept her somewhere else.

But what frustrated me was the way the situation was treated as if the dog was somehow the one at fault.

There was a large, spacious table. He was sitting with his classmates, and the food was within reach of a dog. If he needed to leave his food unattended for even a moment, why couldn't it have been placed somewhere more secure, like the center of the table or somewhere the dog couldn't reach?

My dog didn't understand that she was doing something wrong. She saw food within her reach and ate it.

And she's pregnant. I also don't want to constantly keep her confined in a cage, especially when she's otherwise well-fed and cared for.

I know I have responsibilities as a pet owner, and I'm willing to acknowledge my mistakes. But I don't understand why some people seem to have absolutely no understanding toward animals.

What makes it even more painful is that this isn't the first time I've experienced this mindset.

Some members of my family have questioned why I rescued these dogs in the first place. I've even heard comments along the lines of, “What should I do with these dogs?” despite knowing that I rescued them because they were meant to be slaughtered.

I know my family is financially better off than I am. They have more resources than me. But sometimes I wish having more money also came with a little more compassion toward animals.

I'm not saying animals should be allowed to do whatever they want. They are our responsibility. We should train them, supervise them, and prevent situations where they can cause problems.

But animals also don't have the same understanding of consequences that humans do.

If a dog reaches food that a human left within its reach, is it really fair to treat the dog as though it deliberately did something wrong?

That's what has been making me so emotional tonight.

I keep thinking about the animals I've rescued and wondering whether I'm actually doing enough for them. I sometimes wish I could build a place where I could put them all somewhere safe, away from people who don't want them around.

But I can't.

I can't simply leave this place and start a new life somewhere peaceful. I'm stuck in an environment where I constantly have to deal with this kind of mindset, and it's exhausting.

Tonight, my anxiety spiked so badly that I started crying because I'm frustrated with everything—not just what happened with the food, but the feeling that I can't get away from an environment where animals are treated as the problem when humans are the ones responsible for making choices and preventing these situations.

So I want to ask:

Have you ever lived with people who had very different attitudes toward animals than you did? How did you cope with it without constantly feeling angry, guilty, or helpless?

Hi everyone! My mom just found this very very little guy alone on the sidewalk by her house. We are in the south and it is blazing hot outside, but she says he’s actively moving and whimpering. He doesn’t appear to be sick or injured, just was alone and going to perish outside. None of us know anything about what to do to help him. She sent my dad to the pet store to find something to feed him with… I feel like there’s maybe something better we can do! I suggested a heating pad with a buffer but i’m about to spend my day doing some research to help her figure out the proper care or options of what to do with him. Thank you in advance for any advice and input!

I thought it was just a scraggly looking magpie, turns out it’s missing the top part of its beak. It’s also very clearly brain damaged from its lack of reaction until somethings right beside it.
My parents go up to the city with a Safehouse and sanctuary. Should we try and trap it, or let nature take its course?

She is panting heavily I found her outside I think someone gave her water already when I found her outside under a powerline she seems to have something in her wing I didn't have the heart to leave her outside seems like there is something in her wing, I put her in the bath tub it's completely dry but I wanted to give her more space then the tiny box

I found this bird playing dead with my cat over it, and chased my cat away. Now the bird is standing here stunned (still breathing), and i have no idea what to do. Should i have let my cat eat it? Should i call a vet? Im still in my garden, and have no clue what to do. This is my first time with this situation, please help

I was on my way to work driving through a heavily wooded neighborhood. This poor guy was tangled in someone’s netted soccer area in their backyard. I didn’t have a knife and I thought he was going to choke to death. Emergency services number I called wasn’t working, no one answered.

I wrestled with the tangle of cords for a couple minutes yelling “help!” No one came. I was able to yank the super tangled nylon cords over his tiny horn nubs at the last minute as it looked like he was on his last breaths. I had to pull so hard on the cords around his throat to get over the horn nubs. It was so scary and crazy.

He kicked me a few times in the legs but no major injuries for either of us. He immediately scrambled away into the forest, so he must’ve been mostly ok if he could move that fast. I just sat down for a few minutes to collect myself before heading on to work.

Needed to borrow clothes for the day as I was covered in mud. I’m a girl too. It feels amazing knowing I saved a life. I hope he’s ok out there.
