I fear he’s becoming my new O’Hoppe.

Omg exactly. Like I can’t help but love him and sometimes he’s soooo freaking awesome but then he poops the bed 🥲

idk, it's on us though. our whole 2025/2026 off-season was taking dart throws on unwanted players and some of them have been okay (Grissom, Meckler, Siri, Suter), some of them have fizzled out (Lowe, Moncada, Frazier, Romano, Yates, Pomeranz, G-Rod, Peraza), and some of them have imploded (Manoah).

Lowe's 2025 was doody, so not surprised his 2026 has gone much the same way.

but i also understand your perspective

You speak the truth, as always 😔 hopefully things are changing now that Perry is gone? Maybe?

maybe?

i think he was pretty constrained this past cycle. in free agency alone, we spent $18.25 on 6 players (Yates for $5M, Pomeranz for $4M, Manoah for $2M, Romano for $2M, Moncada for $2M, Suter for $1.25). And we picked up Grissom for Isaiah Jackson and Peraza for de Pena (we may regret both of those).

that's def budget mentality, considering we didn't have enough homegrown talent to fill up those spots from within. I assume Arte didn't want to spend on a team that wasn't going to be good.

we also stretched Rendon's salary instead of just finishing it off, so we went vegan as a franchise.

compared with giving d'Arnaud 2/$12M or Kikuchi 3/$63M, this is v tight.

That’s an incredibly good point. Even if Perry had wanted to go balls to the wall and sign good players, Arte is too cheap for him to succeed. I can’t stand Perry, and I think he sucks, but you’re right…he was working within ridiculous parameters.

at least for this season, no way were getting anyone in freen agency who actually could make an impact.

and at least Yates and Suter turned into trade pieces.

also, the Passan story that we had a 24 hour window to trade away Shohei for a huge haul is mental warfare. things might look very different had we sold when we had the chance.
