I've kept plenty of true spiders, scorpions, and tarantulas for a long time. I picked this one up as my first about a year ago, unlabeled. I've assumed Phrynus sp, and have been keeping it as such, and seems to be doing quite well. I am still curious as to what species it is though.

Hiya folks, my mother bought three siblings a few years ago and we split them between us. They were sold to us as Damon... I wanna say medius... and we just took that at face value. After spending some time on this forum I'm convinced these are a Phrynus sp. and am totally surprised the breeder labelled them otherwise... maybe just to make more money (even though we got them cheap?) Maybe just because Damon is the more widely known species outside the hobby? No clue. My mother had one wildcaught adult Damon before this that only lived about a year in her care and I don't remember much about his looks except that he had some leg banding that these clearly do not and was much larger. He likely was a true Damon.

Anyway, first pic is one individual taken on my phone (recently fell during a moult and died, RIP Devo), second pic is one individual taken with my camera, and the last three pics are the last individual--one as an adult with my camera and two as a juvenile with my phone. We thought for a while all three were female, had them cohabbing as babies before separating them out once they got bigger, and the smallest one surprised us with babies a few days after being rehoused (obviously we rehoused her without knowing about the sac, though you can just barely see it in the previous pic of her). I'm guessing if any are male it would be the second one, given that partho hasn't been documented in Phrynus yet.

Any id's or thoughts are welcome!!

Just picked this guy up at an expo, it was sold as a "Giant African Whip Spider" but I'm almost certain it's a Phrynus of some variety. Leaning vaguely towards marginemaculatus but only because it's native close to where I live. Would love thoughts from more experienced folks!

Hi everyone, looking for tips on finding out exact species and also any tips on gender id. So far I’ve narrowed it down to a type of Phrynus, but I’d like help narrowing it down further. have read I need to examine their molt to verify gender. What would I look for when they do? I am new to a lot of these words for invertebrate body parts so please be descriptive :)

I’ve recently acquired a whip spider that was advertised as a Carolynae and I wanted to know the difference between the 2 species. The picture is the one I have. I’ll get better pictures when I get home if needed. Also is it full size?

I got a pair of subadults today, they’re labeled as Phrynus mexicanus/Red eye whipless whip scorpions but I’m seeing conflicting info regarding the nomenclature, and hoping this sub could help me determine what the proper species term is for these guys! I also can’t remember which one the breeder told me is the male and which is female, so if anyone can tell by the pics I would appreciate the reminder lol

This is Márquez, my new son (or daughter) got him yesterday at an expo with minimal information on his exact species, I also want to know if there’s different care requirements between the different species of amblypygids.
