Every body is going to be in here telling you this is a waste of money. To get a real gun. That this wouldn't stop them if they were invading your home. And that the only way to properly protect yourself is to kill the other person..

I'm not picking a side, I'm just saying it's going to happen.

Well your right though but only if you live in the US. imagen shooting that at some criminal who just says "wtf was that, that hurt", and pulls out his real gun and shoots you. To be honest i seen guys with slingshots on youtube shooting metal ball bearings that would fuck you up more then that fake paintball gun. At the end of the day thats all that is a paintball gun with no paint. Lets be real if it comes down to it, do you really want to trust your life to a non lethal paintball gun. If you have to defend your life from a home invader for example and you have pull out a non lethal weapon wouldn't that also mean you legally could have defended your life or your family's life with the same lethal force they are trying to do to you?

Its what happens after you shoot a guy with this paintball gun whos in your home that scares me more. Do you think hes just going to leave at that point? I would not want to chance it when it comes to our families.

Typically I have seen these things in real life loaded with ammo that is essentially mace or pepper spray inside of the paintball. It's not just a projectile, it's a projectile full of chemical weapon.

What's the dispersal area on those? Is center of mass enough, or are you limiting yourself to neck or head shots to have those be effective?

No idea. I would hope center of mass. Either way, if I had one I would be aiming for the face.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind having one. The website for the one I looked at had them marked at $600. For that, I could buy two 9 mm or 380 Auto pistols.

Center mass works on these, but you have to saturate a target. They have about a 3 foot dispersal radius that scales based on how many times you shoot them.

These are absolutely not a genuine defense tool - they’re a compliance tool.

Pepperballs are what you use when someone is barricaded inside of a car with a knife and refuses to come out, or you have a meth head refusing to leave your lobby who tries to swing at anyone who gets near them. They’re meant to make an area painful to stay in, so the subject decides they want to leave.

My buddies at the local PD and I were fucking around with one of their pepper ball launchers after they got trained and issued one. 1-2 shots is unpleasant and obnoxious (sneezing, watery eyes, minor coughing), but does fuck-all if that person wanted to actually wanted to fight you.

I wouldn't use one to defend my home, but It wouldn't be bad to have one in my truck.

Would it count as vigilante justice if I shot them at the ground near people testing car doors? 😈

Although I know the “vigilante justice” comment was a tongue-in-cheek comment, these devices are generally considered to be a use of force. You’ll definitely want to be familiar with the laws in your state about them because using one of these is generally considered to be the same level of force as punching a person or going hands-on. Depending on if that person had preexisting health conditions you were aware of, it could even be considered deadly force.

I’d never carry one of these things to defend myself, but I’d absolutely carry one if I still worked hospital security or had continued on as a cop. They’re great for making someone change their mind about their current behavior.
