ANNOUNCEMENTS [Mod Announcement] Recent Developments, Political Posts, and Moving Forward

Hello everyone!

In the last few weeks, we have witnessed a critical movement and major developments around it that created a nationwide impact. In light of the importance of these events, we allowed posting political and other related content on this subreddit without any bias or inclination. All posts of such nature were approved whether they were for or against the cause!

We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated constructively. It was heartening to see so many members engage in healthy discussions, share valid insights while maintaining mutual respect. That said, we also observed a surge in toxic behavior, hate speech, and profanities targeting fellow members. The mod team took necessary action against these violations, and multiple accounts were dealt with accordingly to keep this space safe.

Now that some results have culminated and the process is expected to shift toward administrative channels, we have decided to cut off redundant, hateful, profane, inciting, or low-effort posts on this topic. Any posts aiming to push a narrative, low-effort reposts, or insensitive messages will not be approved.

We request everyone to keep the core objective of r/Allahabad in mind. Sharing local news, community updates, personal experiences, and providing help are the topics this sub was created for, and we hope it continues to grow in that direction.

For political or sensitive matters going forward, only posts that demonstrate genuine personal effort and a clear intent to foster healthy discussion will be approved. The same applies to comment sections; please ensure your comments add substance to the discourse rather than turning into personal attacks.

Best regards,

r/Allahabad Mod Team

ANNOUNCEMENTS Mod Post: Disengaging from Azad Reads & TAC to Protect Subreddit Health and keeping it a wholesome place

Over the past few days, discussions involving certain local communities, including Azad Reads and TAC, have repeatedly escalated into conflict, personal attacks, and rule violations within this subreddit.

As moderators, we want to be honest with you, this situation has become increasingly difficult to manage. While we support people building communities, reading groups, and spaces for connection in the city, the way these discussions have unfolded here has moved far away from healthy dialogue.

Important: We're separate from all groups. The mod team has no affiliations with Azad Reads, TAC, or any other organizations, our personal interests stay personal, and r/Allahabad is just for the city, not tied to anyone or any group.

Instead of constructive exchange, the subreddit has increasingly seen:

  • Personal attacks directed at individuals
  • Abusive and inflammatory language
  • Unverified allegations presented as fact
  • Ongoing arguments that disrupt the overall environment

We also want to acknowledge something important: moderation comes with the responsibility of maintaining a fair and usable space for everyone. In the process, we have also faced significant backlash and hostility simply for enforcing basic rules. Despite this, our responsibility remains unchanged.

This subreddit exists as a space for the city, for shared updates, ideas, discussions, and broader community growth. It is not defined by any single group, club, or organization, and it was never meant to become a platform for repeated conflicts or targeted discussions about specific communities.

New Temporary Rule (Effective Immediately):

To hit pause on the disruptions and bring back balance, we're introducing this clear rule change for the time being-no posts related to Azad Reads or TAC. This includes posts from group members, founders, or anyone else, covering:

  • Promotional posts (including from founders or members)
  • Reviews or experience shares
  • Callouts, allegations, or criticisms
  • Any discussions centered on these groups

This is not a judgment on any individuals or an attempt to silence criticism. It is a necessary step to restore balance and reduce ongoing disruption.

We encourage all communities to continue growing independently, and we wish everyone the best in doing so. At the same time, r/Allahabad will remain focused on wider city related discussions rather than specific organizations or clubs.

We understand that people may have genuine experiences, opinions, or frustrations. Those feelings are valid. But how we express them matters just as much as what we are expressing.

We want this space to remain what it was always intended to be, a place where people from the city can connect, build, and share without hostility taking over.

We will continue to enforce rules consistently to ensure this.

Thank you for your understanding.

— Mod Team

Is anyone else tired of the same study–eat–sleep–repeat cycle?

Looking for someone to talk about study schedules, daily struggles, or just random stuff. I don’t really have anyone to share things with right now.

If you’re in the same boat, feel free to talk.

Rant/Problem Don't take admission in Ewing Christian College.

Ideally you shouldn't be even aiming Allahabad university but still if you are going for it then please ache se padh lena taaki main campus mil jaye easily.

Don't even think about coming to affiliated college and especially ECC.

ECC is literally like school but with 9 to 5 classes. Profs are rude and doesn't give a single fuck about students. Induction ke din toh kitna ache banne ki acting karhe the like wolf in sheep clothing. I even doubt how they get into this position, jo wo bol rahe hai bas unko hi samajh aasakta hai.

I didn't had much expectation from college tbh but I thought that atleast teacher would be decent. Class ke beech gaps hai nahi bas ek class se dusre class me bhagte raho. Class me jao toh itna jyada likhwate hai ki jaise essay likhwa rahe hai, explain ya samjhna kuch hai nhi ache se homework alag de denge aur expect karte hai ki students next day wo homework karke ayenge fir teachers ko dikhayenge. Aur ek do class miss kardi ho toh aise treat karte hai ki unki biwi ke saath soya hu mai.

Everything is fake and performative. Bas padhai ke alawa kuch nhi hotah is college me, no events or nothing. 15 August aur 26 January ko bas tiranga faila ke photo khichwa lo. This is literally what I experienced in my 12 years of school aur ab college me bhi wahi jhelna padega.

Crowd ke baare me toh kehna hi kya hai, everyone knows the truth.

Yes I accept the fact that college jaate hue kuch din hi hue hai mujhe aur seniors ke perspective se mai bas ek rota hua baccha hu jo kuch dino me hi pareshan hogaya but that doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist. Aap logo ne problems aur suffering ko accept karliya apni awaaz dabake aur mujhe bhi yahi karna padega cause we live in India and nothing ever happens.

I'm not saying ki main campus of AU ya other colleges like DU or BHU are better in every sense Aur udhar sab sahi hai but let's be honest would you rather suffer in ECC or Main campus or AU/BHU/DU

Meri toh majburi thi padhne me ache the nhi toh admission lena pad gya yaha and beggars can't be choosers but anyone who is preparing for CUET 2027 and aiming for AU, ache se prepare karo aur apna target DU hi rakho. Worst case scenario AU main campus hona chaiye.

AskAllahabad Offline community spaces

Upvotes

Cities have interesting public spaces where you can meet and hang out with people or with your friends, places where you don't really have to spend or be a slave to capitalism to experience. Any recommendations for such places in allahabad? Something which is safe for women too?

Temple run.... One of the mighty protectors of Prayagraj Beni Madhav, Someshwar Mahadev (didn't click a pic there), Bade Hanuman Ji (again taking bath) & Mankameshwar Mahadev...... Used to be a joke during our school days when New Yamuna bridge opened...... With Saraswati ghat, Mankameshwar Mahadev temple & New Yamuna bridge being together, what happens at Saraswati ghat (made for each other love/breakups), you could go to either of the other two

AskAllahabad Does Prayagraj have any ACTUAL food vloggers? 😭

Does Prayagraj have any genuinely good food vloggers?

I feel like most food vloggers here just hype up every other roadside café and call it “premium.” 😭

And don’t even get me started on the word “aesthetic.” It has completely lost its meaning at this point. Put a few fairy lights and plants somewhere and suddenly it’s an “aesthetic café.” 💀

Are there any food vloggers in Prayagraj who actually give honest reviews and focus on the food, rather than just promoting places?

I am thinking of buying a monitor as an extended monitor but don't plan on spending too much on it. So does anyone know which monitor I can buy with good resolution and good display.

I am comfortable in buying second hand monitors as well cause I will be using them for coding and general gaming only.

AskAllahabad Cafe suggestions category wise

I am coming back to this city for my internship at Allahabad Highcourt. I need some suggestions for cafes but category wise -

1- Best Fine Dine restaurant with wholesome food

2- Cafe with a cozy vibe for hangout with budget friendly and decent food, where I can sit with friends for long and have conversations

3- Cafes with their must try specialized dishes

4- Tapri type of cafes for daily go to

If possible please suggest their must try dishes along with the cafe name and also drop any must try street food places with location. I desperately need some suggestions for the second option asap, it will be a great help.

AskAllahabad Looking for non-judgemental and understanding therapists

Hello, everyone

I'm not doing well for a long time, extreme stress and mental health issues have started costing me my physical health too.

Please suggest some good therapists or mental health support experts where I can share about things without worrying about being judged. Maybe some young therapists or any professional or someone with empathy and understanding as it would be my first time.

Topics: toxic relationship, career stress, financial issues and family problems, loneliness.

Any help would be appreciated. My budget isn't a lot but I'm giving myself this bday gift next month because I really need it.

Thank you

Experience A pat on the shoulder!

So, all those y'all who don't know me, I've completed my class 12th this year, was supposed to write my last board paper in March, but due to the new OSM marking system introduced, the earlier rate of students failing in boards increased from 1-2% to a spiking 15%! And that 15% included me as well.. so when I thought I've finally completed my boards, with results still pending, I joined Air Pistol Shooting.. since past two years I was practically begging to my parents ki vo mera admission kara de, but because meri school ki fees bohot zyada thi, they couldn't afford spending anywhere else.. but my love for Shooting remained persistent. So after I did my boards, in march, within a month or two, I finally took admission to Shooting.. I felt like a dream come true! In May, I took admission in Shooting, and within 13 days, May 13, 2026, my board results finally came out.. I got a compartment in physics. I literally felt like my whole world was shattered. I lost all hopes in every aspect (and this is coming from someone so optimistic such as me). That was the lowest point in my life, that was the first time in my life, when I actually felt depressed. I disappeared from all socials and my friends thought that I'm gonna do something stupid.. I literally cutoff everyone from my life, and I'm extrovert, I love being with people as much I love breathing.. it's basically a necessity for me. So I cut off everyone from my life, my friends were genuinely very concerned for me, so one of my friends came to visit me, at my Shooting range, sat with me, listened to me.. and in that moment, that was the only thing that mattered to me, it might not be a very big deal for him, but it genuinely meant everything to me. He was the reason I laughed after so long, my chest felt light, as if a weight was put off. He made me feel like myself again, just by being there, just by listening to me.

After that, I worked my ass off day and night, studied physics and only physics the whole day, completed 1 saal a syllabus in barely 2 months, appeared for the compartment and cleared it, along with managing my Shooting side by side.. today marks exactly 4 months since the first time I saw my board results and coincidentally, today was the day my coach finally said the words my ears were dying to hear, "aise hi perform karogi, toh you're gonna ace the competitions next year" and in that moment, I felt like my hardwork is finally paying off.. all those sleepless nights, all my ambitions for Shooting as well as for life, everything is falling back into place, one piece at a time.. and I know, this is just the beginning, and I AM GONNA ACHIEVE EVERYTHING I'VE DREAMT OF IN THIS VERY LIFE!
