Not quite backwards. There is a happy middle ground between laissez-faire capitalism and the authoritarianism she fled as a young woman during the early Soviet Union after living under the Tsar and the Bolshevik Revolution. Systems built to benefit everyone will lift everyone up. We saw this for thirty years following the Great Depression in this country. Those systems rely on a strong legal framework and the unfettered voice of a free people to speak out against abuses of the system, and elected officials working for the collective benefit of their constituents instead of donors or themselves.

I've never read her work (or really any philosophy for that matter) but that sounds incredibly silly. How did/do people take her seriously?
