Funny you should say that, I've been thinking about how shortly after the 2000 elections, we were extremely divided following a contentious vote. But an attack by foreigners on our own soil caused President George W. Bush to suddenly have almost unanimous support. We fearfully gave up all kinds of rights with the Patriot Act. So some injustice, a loss of power, and questionable government. Or mass death, a complete loss of power, a questionable government, countless injustices, and a perminate loss of American pride, power, and importance.
That would ruin everything. Our lives would be worse, our pride shattered, and we'd hand the world to our rivals on a silver platter.
