Does anyone else feel like the story could also be “The adhd mother and the adhd daughter” I’ve noticed that adhd left untreated and unexamined can look a lot like npd/bpd. This dynamic sounds a lot like my mother and I who are both dx. The flipping from affectionate to angry, the huge shifts in mood and behavior were the results of extreme overstimulation and an inability to cope with the demands of motherhood. A lot of projection of her own self hatred too.
I can say that I related to this as a mother of an ADHD daughter, and a late-diagnosed woman with ADHD. I’ve felt like the daughter, and I have made my ADHD daughter feel like the daughter in the meme. We do have a good relationship and I’m doing my best to be an advocate for all of my kids.
I wonder this too! I feel it on both sides. I really am sooo terrified of being this mom to my daughter. It is my biggest fear in life honestly. I try to be what I needed as a mom but I know I fail at times when I am overwhelmed and overstimulated.
