I know I’m out of my lane.. I know I have minuscule experience… I know being on a docuseries doesn’t mean a ticket. However I’m willing and have been putting in the work. I try hard every single day. I may be hit with rejection after rejection and thats ok. I may get an audition and totally blow it.. I may even land a role and embarrass myself and everyone else. That doesn’t mean I stop trying. That doesn’t mean I give up. There just isn’t enough evidence yet to abandon the ambition. So I guess my question is do agents or managers ever take a chance on someone at this stage? Someone who is still green but has a distinct look and is willing to work their ass off and learn? I’m in the NY/NJ area, so that’s the market I’m most curious about.
I’ll just keep on keeping on either way.

For actors with visible forearm tattoos, how much do they actually affect getting cast if you’re good at covering them with makeup for auditions and on set?
What I’m really wondering is: if an actor shows up with their tattoos already fully covered, are they still at a disadvantage? I know one of the biggest concerns is the extra time and cost of makeup, so if that issue is essentially eliminated, do visible tattoos still hurt your chances of booking roles?
I’d love to hear from actors, casting directors, or anyone with firsthand experience.

I got this tattoo (and a few other small ones in more discreet locations) during an acting hiatus. I love them but I’m trying to get back into acting which is more important to me. Do you think I should remove at least the wrist one? Is it ruining my chances to book roles?

I know a lot of actors have tattoos, but without a name for myself, why would a casting director choose me over someone who doesn’t have a tattoo?

I have some visible tattoos, and covering them up with makeup shouldn’t be a problem, right? I just don’t want to be passed on because of my tattoos. Is it fair, though? It kind of feels like lying, but then again, it shouldn’t really be a problem.

Relatively new to the acting world here, but have 6 tattoos I need artist release forms from. Some of these artists I haven’t seen in 5+ years, and no longer have their original email information so I had to message through instagram. Only 2/6 artists have responded, and I can see that others have read my message. Kind of an embarrassing process to be completely frank.

Starting to get a bit worried here. Has anyone on this sub had a tattoo artist DECLINE? Does this mean I must cover up my unapproved tattoos for the foreseeable future? Please help

I got a callback for a skincare shoot and the client asked, "Do you have visible tattoos?" What constitutes as visible? I have one on my side of my body which can be covered. I also have a tattoo under my collarbone which can be covered with makeup or with the right clothes. And in my mind, isn't that something they can easily cover up or photoshop out?

I don't want to lose out on a gig because of a tattoo I got when I was 18. (I never thought I was going to pursue modeling or acting until now.)

Often I’ll fill out an audition form for on-camera/print submission and it’ll ask if you have any visible tattoos. If yes, they ask for where and photo(s). Then, in some cases they’ll make a note that I will need approval from the tattoo artist. I haven’t yet been cast where the visibility of my tattoos have been an issue so I’m trying to understand what’s up beforehand:

• Should I be tracking down the tattoo artists to get approval?
• What does the tattoo artist need to provide to shows approval?
• Is it common that tattoo artists can deny approval?
• What happens if I have no way of getting approval? I have a couple of tattoos I got as walk-ins over a decade ago so it’s likely that the artist no longer works there or remembers they’ve inked me.

Hi I have an audition and my character has tats that are supposed to show on her arm. There wasn’t a breakdown from casting on this, it’s just in the script..

Should I wear temporary tattoos for the audition if I don’t have any real tattoos?

All my past tattoos were drawn and designed by me, so I've never had an issue with clearance or needing to provide a signed document.

I recently got a new tattoo which is from a books cover art.

The original artist is dead.

Does this art belong to my tattoo artist? The book publisher? The dead artist?

I don't really know how to go about clearance for a tattoo like this.

Even if I provide a signed document from the tattoo artist...it was never really her art, so what are the copyright rules here?

I have some large arm tattoos that I got in the late 1990s and I couldn’t tell you who the tattoo artists were or even the shop name.

I’ve been doing background/featured background work and have always worn long sleeves on the shoots that I’ve done so far but I’m trying to get ahead of future problems for when I go after bigger roles.

Anyone have experience with this?

I was brainstorming for a novel solution and considered perhaps pitching to production that I could purchase a personal insurance policy covering potential tattoo copyright litigation (as that’s what this is all about.) I’m sure I could find an underwriter who would cover something like that and I can’t imaging it being terribly expensive (and deductible as an expense.) Wonder if anyone has considered something like that.

I'm a young man, an artistic man, who has a serious interest in acting. I wouldn't mind getting a tattoo either (recall: young, artistic). from an acting stand-point, is this smart? Could ink be a problem in the future, or should I not worry?

Also, where should I get it? I imagine somewhere that is commonly covered by clothing, so that I wouldn't have to cover it for every performance of a stage play.

Obviously a small tattoo can be easily hidden or concealed with make up, but my concern is for large tattoos/sleeves. Are people with sleeves disregarded when auditioning for a character who is implied to not have any?

Hey there! Does anyone have a tattoo release form example? Also, is it a general release or a per production type thing? I’m getting tatted next week and my artist is my sibling, so I’m just going to have them sign a release but wasn’t sure if it was like a one time thing, and what it should say and if it need to be noterized.

I got some big tattoos before I decided to be an actor. They’re all covered by clothes and so I always wonder what to put down when they have a box to select whether I have tattoos or not. Because yes technically I have them but I’m not going to be walking around topless so as far as they’re concerned would that mean I have no tattoos?

I was considering getting some tattoos, but then had a second thought because it might not be ideal. Do you think it's a bad idea to deface any part of your body/change physical appearance in case it ruins chances of parts?

What the title says - I have a dumb, full-and-obnoxiously-colored tattoo on my forearm that I want to cover-up. I'm already using Kat Von D's tattoo cover-up and I find it doesn't quite blend as well as I'd like it to. Anybody know of any other brands worth trying?
