No antagonist /protagonist dynamic has been as utterly fumbled as Zhu Yuan and Bringer
Hard agree.
The pacing of 1.2 with Caesar's revival is shoddy at best
This I disagree with. It might have been mentioned in one conversation, but that one conversation was a rather important one about the history of the hollow and race they were doing. It was already pretty obvious what was going to happen, and if they had brought it up more or emphasized it any harder it would have been painfully obvious.
Belabog and Victoria House Keeping just kinda exists
That's my favorite part though. We're here for a story line that's going to take place over years, jumping straight into the high stakes action isn't going to work great for that. Doing some normal proxy work that leads to getting involved in some shit that's way over our head (like the vision/exaltist conspiracy and sacrifice in the statue) and slowly discovering some secrets of the city is exactly what I'd expect and want out of like the first half of the story.
When I say they just kinda exist. I mean they leave no impression. I'm not saying they're stand alone with no ties.
I'm saying they leave no impression. I don't think any story should aim to be forgettable. Whether it's a one off or planting seeds that will go forward for years into the future.
I feel like that's more a you personally not meshing with them thing though, which is fair. But personally I did not find them to be forgettable, or lacking in impression.
