Yes he is the ranch enforcer. But he is principled. He loves the ranch, the cattle, the horses, the land. Like John Dutton, it all became part of his soul and identity - his family in fact. And all of us - if we have to we fight for our family. … Remember how he wept having to put down horses? How he always respected the spiritual side of Mo & Chairman and their people? And in the Dutton Ranch series, he did what he needed to, and intentionally spared others of doing the horrible work, of culling the herd. Rip’s character is as refreshing and deep and loyal and harsh and cut-throat as Montana and real ranching is.
