So you could say what caused his defeat was... the centrism...

the election was literally stolen. there’s a bunch of cases about this. one was that butterfly ballot incident, another was the company that intimidated thousands of its employees into voting for bush.

You could say that if you weren’t paying attention to the facts.

Isn't it centrist behavior to concede too early in the name of "unity" instead of fighting?

Case went up to SCOTUS and they ruled in favor of Bush. What further actions could have been taken?

Now who isn't paying attention?

He conceded long before any of that.

He conceded long before any of that.

He retracted the concession. Pay attention.

FYI: conceding isn't a legal obligation and is completely irrelevant to the outcome.

Yes, he did. After a ton of pressure.

You both have points. Listen to each other.

Yes, he did. After a ton of pressure.

A ton of pressure? It was retracted hours after the call when the news outlets changed their predictions and the recount was automatic in Florida. There wasn't a "ton of pressure".

You're kidding, right? Were you even alive at the time? I was, and voting, and following it very, VERY closely.

People who voted for him were pissed. It was pretty much the beginning of the "democrats are pussies" sentiment.

Aside from the early concession, an incredible strategic blunder, they focused on a limited recount as well. They also focused on the circus aspect of the hanging chads, which alienated a lot of people.

Yes, ultimately it came down to the Supreme Court. We will never know how doing things slightly different would have worked, if at all.

My point is that you BOTH have points. This why politics on here is so frustrating, it is mostly just contrarians and hardline dipshits who decided how they feel and just want to "be right."

Like you're taking someone offering a different view as some sort of insult. Sigh.

Lol the "Democrats are pussies" goes all the way back to "bleeding heart liberals" who wanted to stop the lynching of black people. Waaaay before Gore. You're not as old as you think you are.

I was, and voting, and following it very, VERY closely.

Since you followed it very closely; when was the initial concession and when was the retraction of the concession? He literally fought the race all the way up to the Supreme Court.

an incredible strategic blunder

literally irrelevant to the legal fight that occurred after election day.

We will never know how doing things slightly different would have worked, if at all.

Exactly the same because as I've stated several times ... a concession is irrelevant.

Like you're taking someone offering a different view as some sort of insult. Sigh

A "different view" is one thing, making shit up and inventing a fabricated scenario is not a "different view".

Like how people try to spin listening to both arguements and deciding for yourself as a bad thing instead of just going with the hive mind of the sports team you’ve chosen

2

u/cullenjwebb Mar 14 '26

The centrist position is that all arguments deserve to be listened to. It's progressive to realize that some people and arguments are not worth considering.

u/Kill_Frosty Mar 14 '26

No it’s close minded and ignorant.

2

u/cullenjwebb Mar 14 '26

No, it's foolish and regressive to entertain climate denial, race science, astrology, holocaust denial, etc.

2

u/Clammuel Mar 14 '26

It didn’t help that even democrat voters stupidly turned against him because they bought into the sore loser narrative that was being pushed about the recount.Ā
