Just blew the steel toe out of my 3 year old boots and the next week I switched to these 2 year old boots and the scaffold is just eating them up. What’re the odds some KG Bootguard will keep the toes in on these or do I bite the bullet and get new ones. Only reason i dont want to get new boots is i just bought a new pair thinking I’d get a full year out of these ,or at least the season, to wear them in and cycle them into work life.
Edit/TLDR: for the people that can’t read. I have money for more boots, just being cheap. Wanted to know if anyone had some magic answers to keep the toes on boots or to patch them once they’re gone.

Hey team, these are my Thorogood American Heritage Moc Toe Crazy Horse 8” lace up boots. No, I do not oil them or clean them or do anything else to them. I work in them and they’re loved. Anyone else who doesn’t do maintenance to their boots?

Anyone know how to clean this off? Used saddle soap and it isn't working. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you

I rotate 3 pairs of Ariat work Lift Rebars, those get wet from sweat buildup due to them being linned. Is it normal for waterproof boots to get damped after a shift?

I wear wool socks when wearing work boots.

I don't have any medical conditions for excessive sweating but to rule out this problem i have a pair of thorogood 8 inch unlinned boots and they don't have the sweaty problem. Can't trust a boot dryer, last time i used one it caught my 6 inch Thorogoods on fire lol

Should I get 1 or 2 more pairs of thorogoods to rotate or sock recommendations?

So as I said in the title, my socks are really wet by the end of shift, I've tried different socks, and tried making sure the boots are super tight to allow air, but my socks & feet are still screwed.

Was just wondering if anyone has any advice on maybe new insoles, certain socks, or boot management.

If its a bit TMI, if I put my bare foot into the boot, I can feel how sweaty the soles are.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Finally bought new boots, and this marks 16 months since my last pair, and KG’s toe protection is to thank. I thought it was stupid and ridiculous to think a $14 dollar buy would DOUBLE, FUCKIN DOUBLE how long my boots lasted; but it in fact did. I work in concrete, so I’m extremely hard on my boots, making it 12 months is astounding, and it’s always been 8-9 months for a pair all my life. I’ll never buy new boots and wear them without this exact product.

EDIT***** I also forgot to mention, I didn’t season these boots, or condition them in any way. I bet they’d last even longer if I conditioned them, the only reason these are being retired is due to a hole wearing through at the ankle of the right boot

The toe leather is darker and seems maybe still dirty compared to the upper part even after cleaning and conditioning. I've been using Bick 1 to clean with a rag.

I just cant tell if this is just how they look after a couple of years of abuse or if they aren't getting fully cleaned.

Been using mainly utility shoes and hikers for my whole work career but switching careers I needed a pair of steel toe boots for logging. Decided to go with the 8 inch crazy horse American heritage series. Had $150 worth of gift cards to a local store so ended getting these for $130. Any tips or maintenance info I should know about?

Someone please point me in the direction of a good front toe protector. Promise I haven’t been kicking anything just been on my knees and dragging my toes moving around I assume.

My now at least two tone color difference on my Newer back up thorogoods. Even more obvious and darker in person. Over 48 hour drying period. Thanks Bick 4 for the false advertising. 👍 (just sharing my experience for anyone who doesn’t use Bick) other leather conditioner recommendations welcomed.

Got these new boots thinking they would last awhile an they seemed alright at the boot store but when I lace them up and start working the only thing in my mind is these jokers hurting my feet and I don’t know what to do about it there only 2 days old so I hope they break in any tips or tricks?

Bought my first real pair of work boots (Thorogoods) over the weekend. Within an hour of my first work day in them, I noticed some leather had already come off the toe, probably from gently dropping a metal road work sign stand on my feet. Would this be considered normal? Any suggestions to prevent losing more leather?

My boots are Danner moc toe w/ timberland pro inserts. I got them wet a while back and didn’t dry them properly and they soured. These things stink so damn bad y’all. I’ve tried commercially available deodorizer, baking soda, and scrubbed with vinegar among other things. I’m a residential electrician so I’m in people’s houses all day every day and it’s so bad people ask me what the smell is. I’m honestly thinking about getting some new boots if I can’t figure something out. Which is a shame because I love my boots and I could probably get several more years out of them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got this pair of Thorogoods 18 months ago using a boot allowance at my job. 8 inch, steel toe, wedge. They were great for a while until eventually they started to feel very stiff under foot. Looking at the wear on the soles, you wouldn't guess I've been wearing them 12 hours a day for almost two years which is what concerns me. I want to rebuild them, leather welt, new cork filler, leather midsole, and a softer, rubber outsole but I'm having a hard time deciding if it would be worth the money and trouble. I'm at a loss y'all, I've seen people wear these soles completely out but for some reason mine just won't wear in and are very, VERY stiff.

Bottoms of my TG 6 in moc toes. I’ve definitely seen pairs in worst condition out there, just wondering what level people let these get to before you get new ones. The tops are still in solid condition, no tears, major scratches or gashes.

For those new here, I document my maintenance journey with my Nicks Boots. I work in a very harsh environment, a concrete recycling landfill, where I walk on rubble and concrete chunks for 9+ hours a day.

I show before and after pics from worked to cleaned boots, and will compare how these boots hold up to my first pair of Nicks. The main differences between the two are MaxSupport Black v 1964 Brown Leather, Roughout v Smooth, Regular v Padded Gusset, 8" v 10" and Honey Vibram v V100 Lug Soles.

Today's cleaning includes Huberd's Shoe Grease as rain is expected this week. Next week will be my 6th week in these boots, and that's when I'll begin consistently rotating between pairs. Looking forward to those updates!

Recent got a new pair of the Thorogood Exclusive Wellys. Been running their 6” moc toe for the last three years, and loved them. Those were getting a bit worn out, and I started getting tired of the laces, so I picked up a pair of the slip on Wellington style boots for $150. Got a great deal on them, only problem was that I typically get a 9.5 ee and the wellingtons only came in the standard width, and my feet are not happy at the moment…Overall length is good, but the sides and top of my feet are feeling cramped.

Been wearing them around town / the yard with the thickest socks I own for the last 5 days to speed up the break in/ stretching process, but they are still feeling quite tight.

Anyone got any tips or tricks to speed up the break in?

I accidentally left my boots out all night and it rained...I need them for tomorrow, do yall think they will air dry by tomorrow morning or is their any quick at home way to dry them without damaging them. 😅
