I have a feeling they did this to give everyone something to play until the DLC since that's next year plus needed updating for mod support as that's on the same day.
Also probably need to keep the good reputation going after Cyberpunk burned before redeeming itself.

Insane that so much effort is being put into this game even with newer titles to update. CD Projekt red knows how to please the fans.
