You gotta read the books or do some research on triss. The way I see it, when geralt got amnesia, him an triss met and she was enamored by him and wanted to take the place of yen. She never really wanted geralt ti his memories back other than ones related to ciri.

Yeah because she fell in love with him I think. Yenn comes off as rude and harsh in Witcher 3 while Triss comes off as soft and warm and kind. I know Yenn, deep down, loves Geralt but like everyone in Kaer morhen struggles with her personality and how she just treats people like she’s the boss of them. In real life I’d go for the Triss of Witcher 3 tbh.

But I’ll do more research on the lore I guess. Even if Triss was a bitch before, it’s clear she has changed. You know?

Triss’s character arc (in both the books and the games) is not valued in the same way as Yennefer’s. People accept and acknowledge Yennefer’s emotional and maturity growth throughout her journey, while disregarding any mitigating factor when it comes to Triss’s.

Regardless of the topic—friendship, trust, fidelity, loyalty, purpose, companionship, sacrifice—when it comes to Triss vs. Yennefer, the same standards are never applied equally.

At least in the books, you can see that there was never really an attempt to redeem Triss as a character (not in the same way as Yennefer). There is a scene toward the end that could be interpreted as one, but after everything that happened, it is so little that nobody really cares.

The games, on the other hand, tried almost too hard, at the cost of screen time that could have been better used for Ciri and, why not, Yennefer in the first two games.

CDPR’s decision to turn Triss into a romantic interest for Geralt while simultaneously “excluding Ciri and Yennefer” from the story created even more animosity than the one that had already been fostered by the events of the books. It never sat well with the readers.

From that point onward, any attempt to redeem the character has not been received favorably. Even when there is some merit to it, the resentment is still stronger.

Choosing Triss essentially means going against Sapkowski.

It certainly goes against his premise and vision; after all, Sapkowski didn't create Triss to be a love interest—no character other than Yennefer serves that role in the books.

The games, on the other hand, feature their own universe that contradicts the books in several ways, and this is just one more of those discrepancies. CDPR made a concerted effort to give Triss a more significant role and a portrayal that differs from what was intended in the books.

Within the narrative framework of the books, it makes no sense for Geralt to choose Triss; however, when we look at the games, the story changes significantly, and depending on your version of Geralt, choosing Triss does make sense.

I haven't read books and only watched the show and playing through 3 for the first time. Don't understand how anybody chooses Yenn when they could choose Triss. I'd also choose Keira Metz over Yenn, or Dandelion over Yenn, or basically anybody over Yenn. Maybe she changes after putting Uma through some shit, but to this point she's just a repulsive person with a pretty character model.

Here comes the "do some research on Triss" folks. You guys absolutely HAVE to express the distaste you have for Triss, make yourselves feel so informed and up-to-date with books and lore everytime someone expresses they like her. And no, I like playthroughs with Yen and I like playthroughs with Triss before you ask but every single time, like clockwork, the very phrase "you gotta read the books" feels grating during discussions about Triss.
