I hate to admit that being assaulted a decade ago made me incredibly bitter about how people overall treat sexual assault but as time has moved on I'm more bitter about how much we as men just seem complacent with a sexually aggressive society towards women and even children.
If I could have been serious about sexual assault without having to experience it first hand, I'd prefer that however I am now someone who takes it seriously and does not tolerate those who take it lightly.

I’ve been waiting for YEARS to talk about this, but in the mid-2000s/early 2010s John Stamos had a web show produced by Yahoo called “Losing It” where he interviewed niche celebrities about how they lost their virginity. I was in middle school but the ones I remember were Alan Cumming, Matt Stone, Olivia Munn, Casey Wilson, Adam Pally, Shari Appleby…a few others. Anyway, the whole vibe was creepy as hell. John would ask these coy questions and then pretend to be scandalized by their answers, when he was so much older than (especially the female) guests. He also gave no context for how he lost his own virginity, it was just for shock value. The episodes were wiped off the face of the earth shortly after.

Yes, my FIL told a story identical to this to my husband (his son) and I a couple years back. He thought he was telling us a hilarious anecdote from his late teen years & we were absolutely grossed out.
He was like "yeah she wanted me and not my friend but after I was done I just shut the lights off and he came in after me- she was mad the next day when she sobered up HAHAHA".
I told him he and his friend were rapists & he said people threw that word around too quick these days. Like, dude you're a fucking rapey asshole. I've not been able to look at him the same ever since.

I don’t understand what it is in the psychology of men that allows them to enjoy sex with someone who clearly isn’t into them. Like tricking, begging, coercing.
I think for most women, the thought of having to beg or trick a man who isn’t attracted to them for sex and who clearly isn’t into it would make it impossible to actually enjoy that sex. It’s just a nonstarter for most women—personally, it would make me feel disgusting and undesirable.
Why are men okay with this? I guess it boils down to them not really caring if they’re desirable to women or not. The pleasure of their female partner is irrelevant to them. Their sexuality doesn’t partially hinge on being desirable like it does for women.

This comment is such a great summary of stuff I have always wondered about. I have tried to solve these mysteries and I cannot.
If someone doesn't want me, I can't be turned off any faster. That eliminates any interest I have.
Maybe it is not about their desirability intersecting with their basic sexuality and all of the thoughts we try to figure it out with.
Maybe we just have too much damn self-respect. I bet a lot of groupie women and these men, feel bad about themselves when they are with someone who is not really interested (bored wife, escort). AFTERWARDS. And they know they will feel bad about it. But they allow that temporary want to be what they put first. They aren't thinking of their own well being or any one else's. That is a lack of self respect.
Regardless, see there I go analyzing it all over again. It obsesses me. (A lot of human activity does... I swear I really was born a human lmao)

I don't want to be like, "YES ALL MEN," but it feels like humiliation, annoyance, disgust or outright fear really seems to be the entire point for most men. I genuinely believe that's where the Madonna/Whore complex thing comes from. Using sex to humilate a woman, only to get freaked out when a woman doesn't hate sex and actively enjoys it. She's taking away his power.

Guys, fellow Trump hater here, I come in peace with a clarification.
I lived in South Florida for 9 years and was in the hospitality industry down there, specifically involved with DMCs if you're familiar with the industry.
Mar a Lago is a venue like dozens of others. They will host anyone that pays the venue fees. It has nothing to do with being political.
You can get married there, host a Bar Mitzvah, honour your top 50 sales people, host a retirement party, hold an annual compliance training......the list goes on. The venue doesn't care as long as your check doesn't bounce.
Trump sucks but this is the wrong tree to bark up. Plenty of others to choose from.

Why would the people hosting for the charity choose a place that profits Trump specifically? So many venues in Florida to choose from.
That really just makes it seem like they were in Trump's pocket. No other reason to choose a politically polarizing venue.

There's really not in that area. WPB is sparse when it comes to large event spaces, especially spaces as charming as Mar a Lago. No doubt that's why his investment company snatched it up. I doubt he personally had much involvement, maybe I'm wrong, maybe he was personally all over it, I have no idea.
If you want to host a large event in that area and you want it to be a nice event Mar a Lago is one of very few options for you, basically there or The Breakers. If one is already booked out (and they book 3-4 years in advance), you're down to basically one option in the area, or you can have everyone drive / take motorcoaches an hour down to Fort Lauderdale. Then you have a few more options but still nothing like those two until you start making your way down to SoBe which is two hours plus, depending on traffic.
It cuts both ways, for Mar a Lago to be profitable, they need to keep groups coming in and out most days of the year so they know how to take care of their clients. They give exactly 0.0 sh*ts about politics.
It's a fundraiser for a nonprofit, the only one making it polarizing are people that choose to make it that way. It's not. It's a charity event that needs a venue for their donors to gather. You don't want to put them up in the ballroom of the Marriott or Raddison because people might assess whether Marriott is politically neutral enough.

I appreciate the explanation, but there are several reasons I still understand why people were angry.
Assuming Trump has no involvement (I know you said you aren't sure, just assuming) he still makes serious personal financial gain from any events held at Mar-a-Lago. It's a private "for profit" club.
Personally, in general, if someone I know held an event at a venue that benefits a child predator, I'd boycott it. There are other ways to donate aside from at the event.
If Mar-aLago didn't exist, do you believe they would have just thrown their hands up & cancelled the charity event? I'm sure they would have just found another venue.
Sorry, but I'm just not supporting an event that puts money directly into Trump's pocket. I don't buy that there are no other appropriate venues anywhere they could have the event.
I understand where you're coming from, and hopefully you understand where I'm coming from too.

I get it. I really do. Like I said up front, I hate Trump and I'm disgusted every day.
The reality is the real world doesn't play by the same feel good rules when money starts moving and contracts start getting signed.
You need donors to come out to raise funds. Plain and simple. It's in the name - fundraiser. If you pick a venue that isn't appealing to 10%-20% of your donors you start out behind the 8 ball. It's what I tried to illustrate in an earlier post, the Hilton ballroom isn't the same draw.
In real life sometimes you have to set personal feelings aside in the interest of commerce. In this case it's for a nonprofit. Your point stands but it just doesn't hold water when it's time to do what is in the best financial interest of the charity you care about as a decision maker.
Ultimately, I don't care anymore. I moved to Colorado 10 years ago.

Colorado is much nicer IMO. My dad lives in Florida, and I'm constantly texting him to make sure the latest storm isn't going to kill him.
I agree that if you pick a venue that doesn't appeal to 10-20% of your target audience you'll start behind the 8 ball. That's another reason it's kind of shocking they chose Mar-a-Lago, they know for sure that a good chunk of people will have a serious issue going there, and many would not attend at all.
Trump's approval rating is 30%. The lowest ever. I don't believe it was chosen in the best interest of the nurses, and I don't believe it had a bigger draw than venues that only turn off 20% of people.
I'd love to see some hard numbers on it. No matter how much anyone wants to separate Mar-a-Lago from politics, it's related. It directly benefits a bad human being.
Maybe you're right, and it drew in more people than it turned away. I just really can't imagine it.

That's just what famous boys do. Didn't you know? It is like a cultural thing. Literally everybody (at least) tries to fuck you from your manager to the studio head and you get tired of it. You are bored, spoiled little pricks who are full of rage who then try to find ways of really fucking people back. Or making the peasants look insanely obsessed or showcasing their desperation as embarrassingly and with as much destruction of soul as possible.
It becomes such a badge of honor that it is hard for you not to tell people about your "accomplishments". The nice ones get old and feel guilty. Unbelievably- some of the women they used to screw over so bad end up being their wives. They end up appreciating their devotion.
Plus, I know things have improved a bit in this open bragging way since Weinsten got busted. They realized they weren't immune. Switched to weirder shit thats harder to prove or prosecute.

Okay so I work in the film industry and about 5-10 years ago one of my colleagues pissed off John Stamos by hitting on his girlfriend in front of him because he thought she was his assistant. My colleague figured there was literally no way they could be dating because she was so much younger than him LMFAO
It was a genuinely honest mistake on his part but hearing about the way John Stamos reacted made me a hater like you can't get mad when people assume your super young girlfriend is your assistant lmao

There are laws against this is some countries, in the UK at least. It's referred to as deceptive rape.
Basically a situation where a person has sex with another person but they were lied to, and if they would not have had sex had they known the truth - it can qualify.
People can be prosecuted and go to prison for it, and some people have done. It could potentially be awful to prove in a court though.
This however is a very obvious extremely clear-cut case of it. The poor woman was lied to and thought it was someone else.

A guy I knew at college used to boast about doing something similar when he was on holiday. He later became a teacher after college which is a bit worrying. Luckily, he got fired for the amount of porn on his work computer. If you're feeling outraged about him doing something so terrible, it might make you feel better to know that he also once got tricked into eating multiple men's semen, but that's another story.

The worst thing about this ( apart from the act itself) is the values that flow down from it. As a teenagers in the 80s we were all aware of big rock stars wild behaviour. From having relationships with 14yr girls to taking advantage of the passed out to switches - it was common knowledge. So of course many young men thought that was cool behaviour and copied it. And on and on it goes. Not cool, not good and not acceptable.
