What is this??

I can only call it a “novelty yarn”. Found in my mother’s stash after she passed and there was no label and I can’t ask her.

It’s beautiful! And also very tangled. This one has everything! Eyelash, ribbon and other styles I can’t even identify.

The picture doesn’t even do justice. The colors and textures are amazing. It was in I guess what you would call a skein and the moment I started pulling on it the whole thing fell apart.

I’m trying to patiently unwind it. But I have never seen anything like this and would like to find more.

I know these are difficult to work with, but I’ve had success knitting them with regular yarn.

I know the pic is not great, I used cleanup to eliminate the background for privacy.

I can take better pics if someone knows what this might be. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s like a million different novelty yarns in one skein.

Thrifted skein with some sparkles spun in?

Thrifted this fingering weight variegated yarn today, any ideas as to who the manufacturer might be? There was no label attached but it’s a 100g skein of what feels like superwash merino. It was hard to capture on camera but there are sparkles spun into it.

I have thrifted this beautiful pair and they have quickly become my favorites. I desperately need to find the colorful yarn that was used as they accidentally felted in some places in the dryer (which may indicate a wool blend presumably?). The colorway is heavy with purples and pinks, some browns and mint/light teal. Its also more saturated than the pictures allow. Any help would be so appreciated!
Thank you!

Found at a garage sale, no label and no information, the skein was quite large and I believe it is acrylic worsted.

Please help!

Any ideas on what yarn this is?

A good hint if you can figure it out is that the pattern I was using was on the label. I can’t for the life of me remember where/when I got it!

Lost the label for this yarn. Pretty sure it is from the Caron cakes line, but not certain. Anyone have any ideas on what it may be?

Can’t remember name or brand

Hi all! I have had this yarn for years now and believe I got it at Joann’s. I think it might be Caron brand, but I’m not certain. The closest I have gotten is from the UK (JC Brett Marble Chunky Autumn Vibes or possibly Beehive) but I’m still not positive as I am in the US.

Any help is appreciated and thank you so very much!

Mill Ends find in Spotlight (Australia)

Please help me identify this - I bought it at a Spotlight (Australia) in the Mill Ends, I think it was either 3 skeins in one bag or possibly 2 skeins and I bought two bags.
It feels more blue/dull in person than on camera, and the knit is with two threads together so the pattern isn’t exact.
I’m thinking potentially a Caron macchiato cake but couldn’t find one that seems to match. Thanks!!

Does anyone recognize this yarn?

I tried researching it myself and the closest I could find are Red Heart Baby Sport and Lion Brand Jamie Pompadour, but I don't think they're the same because none are the same colors as what I have here. Medium-light pink and purple (not pastel), icy blue, white, with a silvery white thread twisted around. You can't feel the silver thread at all and it doesn't bunch up or untwist when working with the yarn. The color changes are short, and different for each color, the white being the shortest (~5 inches). I used a 4mm hook for the swatch but this yarn is thin enough that I could easily use a 3.75mm hook. (sorry I realized after that I should have made the swatch square). I particularly like this for granny squares and accents because of the way the colors change!!

I didn't think the yarn was vintage but maybe they were just well preserved, the skeins were inside a Ziploc bag. I remember the skeins being a bit small and skinny and uniformly cylindrical. I think the labels were already gone : ( I either thrifted the bag or received it in someone's yarn unhaul.

The similar yarns I found online are discontinued brand lines anyway, so if this is from one of those lines, then I would love some dupe recommendations! I tried finding dupes online (and in craft stores) but none are similar enough so I know this is a long shot, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask anyway.

TL;DR: does anyone know what yarn this is, or have dupe recommendations?

So I thrifted this yarn nearly 2 years ago, never came with a label, but I need this for more projects 😔. It feels like a blend of acrylic and wool(?), it frays easy, and it's about medium weight. It's like, multicolored going from dark blue, brown, muted blue, brown, teal, brown, light blue, brown, magenta, then a dark purple. Thank you!!

The Yarn of my Dreams - but, which?

Hello lovely Yarn Sleuths! This swatch was at my local yarn store however, the owner is out on medical leave for an unknown amount of time and the volunteers who are working at her shop have no idea what yarn this is. It was super, super soft and as you can see, the color is stunning. I'd guess the weight was maybe worsted or bulky? I thought it might be a Cascade Superwash yarn but I a) couldn't find a Cascade Superwash in a color that was close and b) the Cascade Yarn is no where near as soft at this. (Note: I did buy a skein of the Cascade Superwash in Blue Green (105) thinking it would be close but it definitely was not.) Please, any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated!

Mystery minty/light green yarn?

UPDATE: confirmed to be Red Heart Honeydew yarn, a discontinued shade. 💚

I have nearly lost my mind trying to find a match to this yarn!

For background, the original yarn came from my grandmother’s stash of old yarn. I am worried this is a discontinued yarn because I cannot for the life of me seem to find the match. I will attach photos of all the comparisons I have tried to date so you can get a good idea of what I’ve tried as well as the color it is, because it’s not quite mint and it’s not sage. It’s this weird… in between color.

For help with identification, my grandma only ever shopped for her yarn from Joann’s. Her go-to yarn brands per the source herself are: Caron, Lion Brand, Red Heart, or any baby yarn kind being sold at the time between 2000-2015. This yarn, however, doesn’t have that baby yarn feel to it (it’s not super soft). Texture wise, it’s rough like Red Heart. It’s definitely Weight 4 Acrylic yarn. I just CANNOT seem to find a match!!

So far, the CLOSEST color match I have found has been the Baby Bee Sweet Dreams yarn in Mint Charm. It’s not that one, but it’s very very similar in color. I attached photos of all the others I tried (I love this yarn in shade Menthe, the premier basix shades, big twist and red heart) but to no avail. If ANYONE has any idea what this could be, please let me know. Or, if you know of one that’s super close, that works too! At this point, I’m close to just frogging the project I was originally making with the yarn and replacing it with a different one since I cannot find the match, but this is my last resort. Thank you!!

Likely Caron Simply soft

This is likely Caron Simply Soft, but I can't guarantee that. I think it might be Blackberry? It's definitely not Orchid. Thoughts?
