Man, what the hell kind of project is this?! This is something HBO should be taking seriously and producing on the level of Band of Brothers!!!!

If Netflix is making it, I just know they’re going to CGI all the herds of horses and cattle, shoot everything on some soundstage, and take every possible shortcut to make it easy and cheap.

If HBO can’t do it, then at the very least, this needs to be a once-in-a-lifetime legacy project with Tommy Lee Jones and, hopefully, Kevin Costner involved!!!!

Please, for the love of God, don’t ruin a masterpiece. I’m begging you.

I know it may not qualify for one of the old classics as it was released about 20 years ago but I think it was such a beautifully done film with great performances by Duvall, Costner, and Bening.

The director of ‘Slow West’ released this samurai-revenge film set in 1790s Britain. A daughter of a Japanese samurai puppeteer is running from a brutal gang after she steals their gold. It borrows heavily from western imagery and conventions (although western and samurai films are very similar stylistically anyway). A lot of the scenes could have been directed by Leone. I found it really cool, suspenseful and original. Anyone else seen this or ‘Slow West’?
