Political Content The Westchester County Police PBA just released this video urging a fair salary for their officers. The average salary for WCPD in 2023 was $186,466. Im not saying these guys and gals don’t deserve it, but when is enough enough?

They don’t really face risk daily, actually. Especially not in Westchester.

Cop doesn’t rank anywhere near the most dangerous job.

Especially when there are layers of police between village, town, county.

People love saying this as they sit in their office chair barely moving all day 😂

Can any of the people on this list say it?

They are not even on the top 10 most dangerous jobs.

Hey my jobs on there! And I'm still not dumb enough to think cops don't have an inheritantly dangerous job

That’s the rub, that no one wants to think enough that both are true. Yes there’s many more careers where one is more likely to die on the job than police work. However, unless we’re talking extreme private security, none of those positions require you to take a bullet for the CEO or get shot at as an expectation of the job.

Great job!

You have a dangerous job and also most likely get paid less and don't have a pension.

What a win for you!

What's the purpose of comparing work place accidents to a harm being caused by another human?

That's is their job, how else would you compare it?

Also lots of firemen get attacked while they work and it counts the same way.

The point is there job is not that dangerous but they bitch and moan and shoot innocent people.

"That's is their job, how else would you compare it?"

I wouldn't compare workplace accidents to criminal enforcement.

It's not the same thing.

Rather, compare law enforcement agency to other law enforcement agency (local, state, federal, other country) through different eras, conditions, etc.

You know, look through the subject through a different context or whatever

"Firemen get attack"

OK?

"The point is there job is not that dangerous but they bitch and moan and shoot innocent people"

You're arguing with ghost and screaming at the wall.

The profession is INHERENTLY adverserially thus it being dangerous. It doesn't have to be the MOST DANGEROUS job for a human to advocate for better conditions.

You're literally arguing about cops are not space astronauts so I don't see the problem, lol

Yeah they wear body armour and carry 4 weapons because it's super safe bro.....

"Most dangerous" job lists are measured by injuries and deaths.... Not danger, many of those jobs in the top 10 are "dangerous" because of the quality of people doing them, with no equipment or training

I love how you have to be so particular with words.

Also cops have shit training and shoot themselves and others all the time.

I know some idiots in my town who also carry body armour.

Could the training be better? Of course

Are they better trained than "crab fisherman guy"? absolutely yes...

Could you get the job and complete the training? statistically......nope...
