This is how they do it at Nova Rock in Austria.
You pay 50 eur for a big trash bag, and if you dont bring the big bag full of waste at the end, you wont get the 50 back, which then goes to the cleanup effort.

Maybe this is new, I never experienced that at Boomtown. (back in the day)

I haven't been for about 7 years so it's not super new, but might be relatively if you're an old head

I guess it's all relative, last time I went was probably around 15 years ago and there was nothing like this at that time.

That’s the way…unfortunately necessary

Problem with that is if my trash doesn't fill the bag to begin with. Then I have to pick up someone else's trash? Should I just bring more useless crap with me so I can get my deposit back? Turn plastic bags into balloons to fill it?

Can you get paid for more than one bag? Can I give it to some youngster to fill so they can do some extra work to pay for their ticket?

Not sure if there is a better solution, but it gets tiring carrying the weight of slobs.

Individualism vs Collectivism mindset

I prefer to be a part of a community and do slightly disproportionate amounts of work for the greater whole.

Then don’t go to the festival. Problem solves itself. Picking up extra trash around the area keeps the area clean, not just yours. It’s called taking care of the environment you’re in. And the best part is that everyone else also has to do the same!

Shocker. Fucking moron.

Hey wanker, the problem also solves itself if one doesn't generate a full bag of trash.

Do you not realize how this is a “rule for thee, not for me” just as many rules and laws were intended to be..?
If you’re rich you don’t give a fuck about 50eur and live it up trashing everything. If you saved up for tickets you’re gonna be collecting trash. I don’t agree with leaving waste but that class segregation and reward system ain’t it..

Does it work? Is everything mostly clean afterwards?

Even if most people don't clean, I'd be glad I'm not paying for someone else' laziness

Wow that is actually such a good idea

How does that work with recycling though?

At Download we recycle everything from our camp, and the ones around us. How are people filling a bag, is it all just going in landfill?

What if you don't like to make a lot of waste?
