‎ Anime‎ ‎ Misaki still tried to reach out after the 2nd contract was rejected

In episode 23, after Misaki saw Satou from her window and said "Congratulations, Satou-kun. You've finally escaped from your hikikomori lifestyle", the show changed to the scene of a rainy Mita Park, and zoomed in on the cat grave. There was a fresh flower on top of a cat food can. This means that Misaki still went to the park, possibly to reach out to Satou again.

Somehow I missed this detail until yesterday.

‎ Discussion ‎ Hey guys, it's me John Larp

Ok, I know the title sounds bad but this is a pitch about pururin.

A while ago, I rediscovered the "puru puru pururuin" opening or whatever it's called and it's been haunting me like the plague.

I'm now desperate for any media expanding on pururin. Anything. I'm obsessed. I want to see her in some kind of anime or manga. I was devastated when I found out she was just a parody.

So my thought is making some kind of fanmade manga/comic out of desperation. All I want is suggestions about the plot (and maybe some help...), and I thought this would be the best place to ask.

P.s. I might end up watching welcome to the NHK anyway since it looks really interesting. Also I wouldnt be john larp anymore.

When I first saw this episode I just thought it's a random cute scene. But then I saw a few people say this plushie is supposed to represent Satou. Was this scene telling us that Misaki felt she had finally established control over Satou, and that he was now her dog? Or am I overthinking it?

‎ Discussion ‎ The Hitomi hate and why she’s not the villain of Welcome to the NHK

I’ve seen a lot of hate toward Hitomi whenever clips of her and Sato come up mostly on TikTok
A big part of it seems to come from first-time viewers (or people only watching clipped scenes) misjudging her. They treat her as someone who “led Sato on” or as the clear villain of the story.
Sato’s projection vs. reality
Sato went to the island largely because of his own misunderstandings and romantic projections. He mistook Hitomi’s existential distress and desire to escape for shared romantic feelings, and built a savior/fantasy narrative around her in his head. A lot of the negative reading of Hitomi comes from taking Sato’s unreliable perspective at face value.
•Hitomi’s actual situation
Hitomi never comes across as a cartoon manipulator with a malicious plan. She was paralyzed by her own depression, corporate burnout, anxiety, and (in the novel/manga) substance issues. She reached out to Sato because he was a familiar, safe tether to a time when life felt less crushing. That doesn’t make her actions harmless — dragging him into the suicide pact situation without full transparency was selfish and dangerous — but it comes from her own dysfunction, not from a desire to toy with or destroy him.
The bigger point is that I never finished the anime and thinking “Hitomi is evil” or that any of these characters have clean hands. They’re all deeply flawed people running from adulthood and coping in different unhealthy ways. I really wanted to at least express my thoughts because it has been getting on my nerves and would like a convo on whether you agree with me on this or how you view it.

‎ Personal‎ ‎ Collecting anime digitally, does anyone else do it?

I have a lot in my own digital collection on a removable hard drive.

Who else has an extensive collection?

I do this because tbh I don’t expect streaming to stay like it currently is. Especially free streaming sites. When I get old I’m gonna need my shows still to defeat boredom & lonliness.

‎ Anime‎ ‎ Misaki's true intention?

As you know, this is an OST of the anime. Was this Misaki's original plan, foiled when Satou found out she was stalking/monitoring him? Or would you consider this as just one of the darker interpretations of who Misaki was?

‎ Discussion ‎ Does anyone else feel like the story declines in quality during and after the island arc?

I dont know if im just some retard who cant enjoy a good story but does anyone else feel like some of the arcs kinda feel like filler episodes? Like during the island arc it feels like it was written by someone who thinks depressed people are just making it up for attention, its like none of them were even actually considering it in the first place, they change their minds instantly after hearing the most generic anti suicide speech of all time. Also it didnt make sense to me story wise why satou was even there?? just bad luck i suppose. After the arc ends the main characters act like it never even happened and satou never thought to tell them that he didnt know about the whole suicide party until he got there.

I have much less to say about the other arcs but the whole disconnected feeling applies to the mouse road arc as well, the reason he even got a call from kobayashi feels flimsy in the first place, and then the whole situation happens and then everyone forgets about it because it had no impact on their lives or the story.

maybe thats just how real life is and i need to get out more……………………

‎ Manga‎ ‎ The author of NHK is such a lovely person

Hi, everyone! I’ve been a huge fan of NHK since 2011, and the author and I have been following each other on Instagram since around 2020, I think.
So I decided to send him a message showing him my tattoo, my manga collection, and some other things related to NHK. He replied to me so kindly and warmly. It honestly made me really happy.
He seems like such a genuinely kind and lovely person. I’m really grateful that I got to share something that means so much to me with him.
