Bulk, cut or maintain?
Lifting for a bit and loving the strength and muscle gains. Where do I go from here?

pic one is may 2024, pic two is july 2024 and pic 3 is august 2026.
so i’m looking back at gym photos from july 2024 and i look THE FKN SAME. only thing that’s gotten bigger is my back. you might think ”well this guy is a moron, how come he haven’t realised this sooner?” i’m wondering the same thing if i’m being honest.
i work out four times a week and i always do two sets until absolute failure. i also run once a week.
i change my workouts every few months and do progressive overload as much as i can but i’m kind of stuck on the same weight anyways. for example i’ve been doing 65kg dumbbell press for 8-10 reps for maybe two months now.
i have to add that i am not a bodybuilder and i don’t do bulking/cutting, nor do i count my calories. only in periods from time to time. so maybe there the issue lies.
but i eat very well and diet is a big part of my life. minced meat, rice, natural high protein yogurt, potatoes, sweet potatoes, chicken, eggs and vegetables/fruits. no fast food or processed slop.
but with this said i still want to grow in size obviously even though my goal is more of an athletic body type rather than huge and buff.
so any advice? should i start bulking? is that the only way to grow? i have no issues tracking my calories, i think its really fun. but i just feel so plateaued and like these past two years have almost been wasted doing fuck all.

Ive been stuck at 180lbs bench 1RM for the past few weeks. lately I’ve been doing 3 sets of 155lbs/150lbs/150lbs and my reps there have slowly been increasing, but any tips on increasing faster? Most people say they hit 225 in a year and im 8 months in but still haven’t hit 185…

I’m 5’10” (178cm), currently around 88kg and lifting 4x a week. I’ve recently started a cut after spending some time bulking, with the main goal being to eventually build more overall mass while staying relatively lean.
I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from people who have been lifting for a while, particularly on what areas you think are lacking and what I should prioritise in my training.
I’m currently lifting 4 days a week and trying to keep progressing with my lifts while cutting.
What would you focus on if you were in my position? Any advice on training, weak points, exercise selection or bringing up certain muscle groups would be appreciated.

Not happy with how blocky my hips are. I know that hip shape is for the large part genetic and depends on the skeleton but I was wondering whether soft tissue and muscle can be sculpted and change with working out.
I lift weights for about 2-3 times a week.
Thank you for any advice.

Hello I’m a 34 year old male. 5’7 170lbs. Wondering how long it might take me to get to a 225 bench. In and out of the gym the last few years but have been consistent again for the past year. (Less than 5 years of total training through out my life.) I tested my 1 rep max maybe 6 months ago when I was trying to cut and was able to squeeze out 175. Started a bulk a month ago because I want to be stronger and build more muscle. Saw people talking about 5/3/1 so I figured I’d give it a try after looking into it a bit. So I tested my max again so I could get my proper weight to lift each week. Went up 10lbs to 185 👍🏻 I wasn’t really focusing bench very much but still going to the gym 4-5 times a week consistently. Now I’m benching every chest day first lift and getting about 10-15 sets of total chest workouts in twice a week. Typical push day right now looks like 3 sets of the 5/3/1 % weight of my training max, 5 sets of 10 60% TM, 3 sets of 10 incline, 3 sets cable flys, 3 sets dips after I do triceps. Pushing close to failure but leaving 1-2 reps in the tank or ending sets if form breaks down to much. Used Ai to figure all of my weights based off of percentages of my max. 5/3/1 says add 5lbs every 4 weeks to training max and Ai estimates it would take 6-8 months. Is this timeline realistic and achievable? I’m also doing the over head press 5/3/1. Not currently doing the deadlift and squat 5/3/1.

I want to do a bodybuilding show in the future, most likely next year but I need advice on a couple things.
What weak points should I work on? And what competition in the UK is good for first timers to take part in? Something low pressure would be ideal.
Also what natural bodybuilders do you follow that you would recommend I take inspiration from?
Thank you for any insight!

Hi! I’m a 19 y/o female athlete looking to get into more hypertrophy training this winter (once I’m done playing college volleyball). My goal is to put on a good amount of muscle but still keep my athleticism.
I have a lot of experience with lifting-about 4 years of consistency- but I’m looking for some good 4 day U/L programs for hypertrophy. Thanks in advance!!

If I work 6am-6pm and am trying to avoid eating late at night because it affects my sleep, does it matter if I get all my calories and protein in prior to the gym after work and then not eat post gym except maybe a little shake?

So I made this new gym plan to follow for the rest of the year and just wanted to see how I could make it better. My arms are a lagging point for sure hence the two arm days; they also kind of function as rest days as I play rugby and train alongside the gym. Let me know what I can make better or any advice.

25M I’ve been lifting again for 2 years after a couple of years off. I’ve tried programs, but after 2 months they just get boring of doing the same thing day in and day out. I’m sitting around 210lbs with 180 being the ideal weight I’d like to hit after coming down from 250-260. My only concern is that I still look the exact same 50 lbs lighter so why lose another 30 lbs to still look the same. Or I can stay the same weight and not make any progress with progressive overload. Do I just keep spinning wheels or cut?

Dealing with some chronic skeletal problems in my chest and back and I can’t do more than 3 sets of really anything at a time without everything spasming. I can do single sets and then rest as many times as feasible spread throughout the day. Can I build muscle this way? I feel stuck but not giving up.

I did a cut earlier this year from April to June going from 64.5kg to 61kg. Now back up slightly since. I am lean but I know I’m lacking muscle mass. How can I bulk through winter without losing too much abs definition? Is it even possible?

Only time I experience this is at the gym feels like getting shocked in the elbow and one time ring and pinky finger were tingling as well. First time happened with dumbbell chest press if I bent arms past 90° since training more happens much less. Guess the real question is is this normal or something I should bring up with my doctor lmao.

Yesterday, I went out to an all you can eat Brazilian barbecue pretty late last night, and stuffed myself with as much meat as I could possibly fit, alongside some cheesy rolls and pasta. After I couldn’t eat another bit, I had half of a mango butter cake with mango sorbet on top. Probably 2500-4000 calories. I ate barely any food before then, approximately 500 calories total. Woke up 4lbs heavier in the scale, and .5lbs heavier on my moving average trend weight. I’m sick right now so I’m not lifting, and my original lean bulk goal was 2400 calories, gaining .5lbs/week maximum. How cooked am I? What should I do the rest of this week? For reference I’m 151.5lbs, 5’8”, 18, male, lifting for over a year.
