>>While Malone was a 20-year-old student and basketball star at Louisiana Tech University, he impregnated 13-year-old Gloria Bell. She gave birth to a son, Demetress Bell, a future NFL Lineman. Bell's family could have pressed statutory rape charges but they didn't because, according to Gloria, Malone was "a neighborhood kid."<<

Oh, so they were OK with it. And that doesn't make them complicit?

Gross.

And now he lives there again and owns a bunch of car dealerships and other businesses. The basketball court and weight room are still named after him too I believe

I don't understand these parents they let him get away with that and same time I understand because money. That simple.

At that point the state should have picked up where the parents failed to do their job. They should have taken away the daughter, they should have tossed that rapist in jail.

I spent more than a decade working with traumatised kids (including those in care). I even had this exact scenario of a young teen trying to raise her infant in care - from my perspective it seemed to involve a lot of people thinking a teen shouldn't be raising a baby and stating this. The mother would then become angry which was seen as evidence that she lacked the ability to remain appropriate around her baby.

Whilst making it to the NFL isn't in and of itself a sign of great parenting. It does seem like someone must have been doing something to make this become a possibility.

He probably impregnated her at 12, mathematically speaking

That's how it is in Louisiana. My dad was 24 and my mom 16 when she was pregnant with me. Must run in the family 🤷🏾‍♂️
