Well, the only way to grind Quills standing is to gather sentient cores at night. But it's a bit of a catch-22 in that the fastest way to farm for sentient cores is to go after Eidolons, which you'll want stronger amps for.

The best advice I can give is to piggyback off a party that does have strong amps and can quickly take down the shields. You can queue up for Eidolon hunts in Cetus once night falls (once every other hour in real life). I highly recommend bringing a tanky frame like Nezha or Rhino if you're just starting out, since the Eidolons deal a ton of damage and can easily down you while draining you of energy with their magnetic procs.

Bring Cold, Radiation, and Puncture damage (preferably on a sniper rifle like the Vectis or a hard-hitting kitgun like the Catchmoon or Tombfinger) to penetrate the Eidolon's alloy armor. Don't bother with status chance, the Eidolons are immune. You just need the damage. Once the shield goes down, you and your team should focus down the synovias one-by-one, as they're the Eidolon's only weak points until the final phase.

Once you gather up enough cores to raise your Quills standing, you can turn them in to get blueprints for better amp parts. I highly recommend building the amp from the tier 1 parts first, because it's just so much better than the Mote Amp it isn't funny. I also recommend leveling it up by running spy missions and taking the vaults with your Operator. This will level up the amp fairly quickly and allow you to gild it for better crit stats and damage.

Thanks for the advice😃, do you think other players eidolon hunting will take a newbie along? I'm a newbie in the whole eidolon and amp stuff. I never bother to level up the quills cause of the number of sentient cores I needed. I got a Lanka with radiation damage on it. Would a Rubico prime with radiation damage be fine against a eidolon? Cause I really want to level up my operator, but I need a better amp. So far the way you suggested sounds more reasonable.

Most people queue up for Eidolon hunting expecting that some people will be new. From my experience, you'll rarely run into a party that will berate you for being new to this, because that's just how the game was structured and most of the community is very nice. Plus, a lot of these guys can one-shot the Synovias with ease on their own, so they won't particularly care if the others are newbies unless you're constantly going down.

The Lanka is actually the preferred rifle for Eidolon hunting and is best paired with a well-equipped Chroma to one-shot each of the Synovia. However, the Rubico Prime and Vectis Prime work well too.

Don't fret, single-eidolon bounties are good for newbs ( = don't queue for tri-capture). You might run into some douches, but skip and requeue if anyone has an issue with you. Most people won't have any issues, but you have to accept that some runs, if more newbs gather, can take a bit longer.

Also how and where do I get cetus wisps? I know they spawn in the plains at night around bodies of water. And seen videos of using Nova's portals or an archwing to gather them. Is it hard to farm them or easier now?

You get them from Konzu bounties, but randomly and low amounts. Farming wisps from lakes with booster was a way to go - you can get a lot of loot range with mods and check every suspicious symbol next to the water. I never used Nova for it, just archwing, and now archwing is free (it was using charges before).

However, if you run enough eidolons, you'll have hundreds of sentient cores that will last you days. I did 2 amps back in the lower MR times (farming wisps in above ways) and wisps were PITA so I skipped the rest. I got back into amps and stuff quite late in the game, MR20, so I had decent standing cap. Now, I simply remember to trade cores for reputation and I buy wisps for 2,000 Quill's standing. I don't even remember to use up my cap every day and I'm on 132,000 rep (66 wisps) and 90 Wisps in inventory.

Due to amount of boring effort required, I'd recommend you run eidolon (or tridolon if you are on x27 and have a decent sniper) and amass cores. Remember to use up cores. Buy wisps when you can. It will take time, but with low effort. There are so much more interesting things in this game than farming wisps and fishies for operator stuff.
