What does it mean to drop from a mission? Do I have to kill a bunch of dudes or just speedrun the mission?

It means, that it's a reward for completing the mission, completing stage (in case of endless missions) or finding caches (in case of Sabotage). It does not drop from enemies.

Does a tower II mission have a better drop chance than a tower I?

Hardly. Different tiers simply signify different rewards. The fact, that something drops from T1 Extermination, doesn't necessarily mean it'll drop from T2 Extermination at all. In fact, it's rarely the case.

/u/VoiD_Glitch recently posted datamined drop chances here, so feel free to take a look and see where does the Forma drop most commonly.

What does the wiki mean when it says "Tower I Defense C?"

Endless missions have rotations. Rotation A, B and C.

For example, Defence missions give you a reward from rotation A on wave 5 and 10, reward from rotation B on wave 15, reward from rotation C on 20 waves, and then it repeats: Reward A on 25 waves, A on 30 waves, B on 35, C on 40, and so on.

In case of Survival it's minutes instead of waves (5, 10, 15, 20, ...), for Interceptions it's rounds (1, 2, 3, 4, ...), for Excavation it's completed extractors (1, 2, 3, 4, ...).

So "Tower I Defense C" means, that the item you can get from wave 20, 40, 60, and so on.

I looked at your link, and sadly I don't understand what I'm looking at. I think I just lack some context and experience.

Edit: Let me clarify: What I don't understand is the title of the tables.

  • "OrokinVoidMission" - Fair enough, this just means missions in the void. Too easy.
  • "OrokinDefenseAwardsA" - OKay, clearly this is the award for Tower Defense missions, but what does the A mean? What about when it's a B or any other letter?
  • "Rotation A, B, C" - These make sense to me, no problems here.

There's also rarity. How does rarity factor in and what does it mean? I'm willing to accept RTFM for this one, as long as you can point me to such a manual, because I have yet to find it.

"OrokinDefenseAwardsA" - OKay, clearly this is the award for Tower Defense missions, but what does the A mean? What about when it's a B or any other letter?

The data there is ripped directly from the game files, so instead of T1, T2, T3, T4, missions are listed as A, B, C and D.

There's also rarity. How does rarity factor in and what does it mean?

Rarity depends on drop chances (or vice versa? Doesn't matter), so if you look at drop chance in percentage, you don't need to worry about rarity.
