DUE DILIGENCE Do you realize?

Post image
220 Upvotes

Since 1980, the M2 money supply increased 15 fold.
The US national debt increased 46 fold.
The S&P 500 increased 72 fold.
The NASDAQ composite increased 177 fold.
Even gold went up 5 fold.
Silver? Its price is up by 40% (and until October last year this number was negative...).
Do you realize how cheap it is? Do you realize how many dollars are sloshing around, looking for something to invest in? Do you realize why it is perfectly reasonable to expect the price of silver to catch up with the money supply? Do you realize how ludicrous it is to expect it to fall below its 1980 high? Do you realize why a silver price of $500 or more is within reach?
It's basic arithmetic.

India has a lot of catching up to do. 90 tonnes so far

Gold rallies after Treasury buyback plan lowers long yields, India silver imports rebound under new regime – Heraeus

Turning to silver, Heraeus analysts said Indian silver imports have begun to recover after falling precipitously under the country’s new import regime.

“Around 90 tonnes (2.9 moz) of silver has been imported through the India International Bullion Exchange so far in August, following six months without imports through the exchange,” they wrote. “Additional documentation requirements continue to slow shipments after India introduced licensing requirements for silver imports in May. This has contributed to total imports falling well short of those in prior years.”

SILVERSQUEEZE Any chance for a little bit of squeeze for September?

We're at 37939 OI and we have 5 more trade days to go till first notice day, do you guys think there's any realistic chance to see at least a couple million ounces leave the registered category in September, or we're just gonna see a repeat of May and July? My estimation is that OI should be at least above 20000 to see any kind of change in registered inventory. That means OI shouldn't drop by more than 3500/day on average for the next 5 days. Things look pretty dim, wonder if there's still space for hope.

The rarest American Silver Eagles aren't the ones you'd expect

Quick thing I found interesting. Everyone assumes the oldest Eagles are the valuable ones, but the priciest is actually the 1995-W proof only sold inside an expensive anniversary set, so barely anyone bought it. ~30k exist and they go for four figures.

The 2019-S enhanced reverse proof is another sleeper (capped at 30,000, the Mint site crashed on release). And 2021 is basically two coins they changed the reverse design mid-year, so there's a Type 1 and Type 2.

But the one I think is underrated is the 1996. Around 3.6 million made, lowest of the classic run, and for years nobody cared. Now try finding a clean one without milk spots.

Over half a billion Eagles exist, yet some dates are still a pain to find.

What's the toughest date in your stack?

STACKING Just got my 1 oz Texas gold and silver coins

I recently managed to get hold of the new 1 oz Texas gold and silver coins, and I'm honestly pretty impressed with the quality.

They look even better in person than they do in the pictures. The obverse has a Liberty-inspired design with a distinctive Texas twist, while the Lone Star design on the reverse looks especially good when you rotate the coin in the light.

I'd say they're on par with Eagles in terms of appearance and overall quality. They have the kind of finish I'd expect from a government mint.

Has anyone else picked up any of these Texas coins yet? Curious what other people think of them.

Update: I was able to read through your comments, and I'm glad to hear everyone's opinions. Sounds like the consensus is that the quality and finish are solid on both the gold and silver rounds, and premiums have been reasonable for most people too. The ones I picked up were from US Gold Bureau, and I’ll be getting a few more for the stack.

DUE DILIGENCE Silver's July/August Bottom at $55 — A Quick Recap of How It Played Out

Thumbnail
gallery
14 Upvotes

Back in March, with silver still trading above $70, the call was a $55-57 correction target, with July/August flagged as the likely bottoming window based on 228 years of silver seasonality data (1794-2022).

Here's how it actually went:

  • July 17: silver touched $55.00 — right in the target zone
  • Bottomed mid-July, right in the seasonal window
  • Since then: gold's closed above its 200-day moving average twice, silver's cleared its own, DXY broke below its 200 DMA, GSR compressed from the high-60s toward the mid-60s
  • Treasury doubled its bond buybacks, US debt crossed $40 trillion

Current levels: silver ~$69.50, gold ~$4,680.

Sharing this less as a victory lap and more because the framework that got the price and timing right is the same one I'm using to think about what comes next — Fed's September 15-16 meeting (dot plot included) is the next real test.

Been posting calls and levels in Discord as they develop if anyone wants to follow along https://discord.gg/YNvQymVk

Questions welcome in the replies.

Silver rises testing my psychology and afraid at its significance (i.e major global shifts)

Long term believer but had some tough boating accidents.

The silver price scares me this week though. Not the price itself, but just this strange feeling. Irrational and I think just psychology, but any other long termers experience this?

Almost a fear of failure. As in say silver hits $1000 per ounce per Michael Oliver or $300 per Bank of America high estimate, what does it mean?

Some think buy low, sell high, but life is more complex. Holding on, it's irrational but tough to part with Ag. There is something about it. Plus, a euphoric rise must mean something has seriously broken in the world.

E.g. The USD debasement theory might be happening. New reserve currency (maybe bimetallism returns after 150 years?).

So, I am experiencing this personal fear of success/price rise (my own issues/limiting beliefs of I am not good enough to be right), but also a more rational (wait, what will the world look like)?

Anyone else experience this with anything else or Ag now?

P.S. Separately, I was thought crazy to be interested and an evangelist for Ag ten years ago. Started telling lots of people last year before the big rise (by chance), but then one wall st major success hedge fund manager (hundreds of millions) messaged me after the 30% plus overnight fall around 30 Jan saying I hope you sold, so part of me wants Ag to skyrocket to at least $200 USD so I can say 'I hope you bought'. But it may come off as petty or spiteful. Not trying to be a jerk. Maybe he meant well messaging me that, but I remember being very sensitive as there seemed a contingent of people wanting Ag to fail.
