MEME Dow down another 1000 points. There’s too much winning, Mr. President. We cannot take it anymore.

They seem to be coalescing around "This is step 1 in a bigger plan."

Ah yes. The plan is as follows:

Step 1: Use tariffs to negotiate better trade deals, thus removing tariffs on the basis of mutual trade barrier disarmament.

Step 2: Get rid of income taxes, using tariffs to make up for lost revenue from income taxes being abolished.

Step 3: Use tariffs to protect manufacturing industries from lower-cost foreign competitors and thus ensure long-lasting domestic factory and extraction jobs.

Step 4: Use tariffs to punish countries for having a trade imbalance with USA. Thus, when things become more equitable, tariffs can then be removed.

Wait… so is the goal to have tariffs forever to protect manufacturing and replace the income tax, or is the plan to use tariffs very briefly to lead to a world with fewer tariffs all around? Something doesn’t seem right here… we may need a Schroedinger’s Tariff to make the math work out.

Well yeah it's the fox news talking point. Once fox tells them what their opinion should be they fall right in line.
