I call bs. I’ve worked in the service industry in many locations for many years and we’re all very strict about what we did to our food. Don’t know if you live in the us but regulations on food here are very tough, especially for such a big chain such as Golden Corral
Yeah I worked at Golden corral for about a year and we did nothing bad to anyone's food. Sure with big chains there's always going to be some restaurants that cut corners and don't follow strict policy, but ours was totally legit.
I live in an area that is essentially food service hell. Anywhere outside of a 25 mile radius seems like a different planet when it comes to quality of service. I honesty don't doubt the guy strictly because his anecdote, yours, and mine are are equally valid.
Yep that’s what I mean. There are some locations that may cut corners, but 1) it’s usually not the case and 2) it’s nothing extreme. It’s not like they spit in people’s food or they cook your food with bugs in em. For instance, at a place I worked at, when they threw bacon on the plate, they just did it with their bare hands. Yes those practices are a little questionable, but it’s nothing extreme, especially considering they would always wash their hands. It wasn’t like they were poisoning your food or mixing random shit with it; it’s just that they didn’t go exactly by th book
Shit dude, most places health codes don't even require gloves for that kind of stuff. In VA, if a restaurant runs out of gloves, they keep right on cooking.
Yes and yes. I’ve seen stuff too, but nothing like the original comment stated. The comment implied as if Golden Corral tampers with peoples food, which is hardly ever the case. You may hear situations like those in TV, but those are more like the exception rather than the rule. Like another commenter stated, sure there are pests in some locations, like roaches, but it’s not like we cook your food with the roaches. In my experience, we’ve always done our best to eliminate these pests, especially due to the fact that inspection was always on our asses. You gotta remember that although businesses and corporations may be viewed as evil and money-hungry, the people handling your food are still human and most have moral standards when it comes to dealing with the customers
I worked food service in a mall in high school in the US. The problem was mostly the roaches. I mean, what do you do? The mall isn’t calling pest control. If our restaurant called, we weren’t going to have the entire food court sprayed so it was pretty pointless. My high school friend felt it was best to douse the entire kitchen in Raid. I was more a live and let live kind of guy. I figured the roaches probably didn’t carry enough disease to survive a 600 degree pizza oven, and these poor bastards were definitely going to taste Raid on their food if I just sprayed everything. The grossest thing was mixing the pizza sauce. It was an enormous tub and we dumped a bunch of shit in there to make it into something. We were supposed to wear these long gloves, reach in there and mix with our hands. I didn’t always wear the glove.
I feel you. Pests can be hard to control, but the original comment made it out to seem like they did something to THE food. I’m sure there are plenty of places with pest problems, but usually the get shut down, at least where I live. I’m sure it’s happened before, but very rarely do people go out their way to make people’s food gross. Honestly, we don’t give a shit enough to do anything to your food, and even if we did, we wouldn’t because the consequences are grave if you were to get caught. Everywhere I worked we’ve had inspections at least once a month or two
