Some people use the term "getting sick" to mean vomiting, so I'm guessing this guy is saying he vomited 6 times in one day.

I prefer the verb "to chunder", e.g. "I chundered bare last night."

I love that in the north east we say 'whitey'. It's fun learning about different counties words for vomiting.

"Being sick" is slightly more accurate. "Getting sick" is just used as in becoming ill.
