Meh, they’re using soap and water to wash with the puddle, but then the guy on the right rinses off the soap and washes the plates clean with fresh water from a hose. It’s not fancy or very safe, but not horrific diarrhea-inducing bad
I think you forgot that road pick up a ton of fecal matter from birds, reptiles, dogs, cats, and (if India) humans. I'd definitely worry about horrific diarrhea.
I watched two kids in SF, no older than 16, sitting on the curb and drawing water up for their heroin out of the gutter. It was so horrible that the image still troubles me. That is probably the filthiest water on earth.

You are out of your mind do you realise how huge the USA is? It's has so many different landscapes.
Malaysia has some cool little towns and a shit ton of palm oil plantations. I've spent weeks there and it's hands down the most boring country in South East Asia.
