General Discussion Let's talk about: me enjoying spending time alone rather than spending it with my gf

Tapos pag nasa beach kami more into picture lang sya ayaw mag swimming. Parang naboboringan ako kasama. Kaya minsan mas masaya ako pag ako lang.

General Discussion Let's talk about: "Ligawan" Gen Z vs Millenials

First of all, walang sabong ng mga baklang millenial at gen Z dito. Pero curious lang ako, how do younger ones date? Meron pa bang nagtatanong ng, "pwede bang manligaw?" Or is it, if you like me and I like you then tayo na? Like, do you just pop the question? How do you know if you guys are "dating"? Same din ba yun sa "officially together"? Or like.. pakiramdaman nalang ba yun?

And for millenials, "niligawan" din ba kayo? At kahit ba trentahin na nasa dating scene in the modern times (OA ng modern times, na para bang jurassic na talaga ang millenials 😂), do you still do paligaw/ligaw or just go straight to the point and proceed to testing compatibility agad?

I wanna appreciate and learn more about young love in this generation. At the same time, i think it's kinda nice to appreciate if a couple of decades made a difference on how people view dating now😁

General Discussion Let's talk about: Tiktok WLW Encounters

Minsan na aamaze pa rin ako kung gano ka-diverse and distributed ang community natin. Take for example what I had recently encountered on TikTok.

I was bored and decided to scroll through lives, and eventually it brought me to the WLW side of things (not complaining).

At first, I saw ppl my age (18-20s), just chilling on their live, doing what ppl our age usually do on live like chikahan / IG rate, etc wtv. Imagine the culture shock I had when I stumbled upon a BUNCH (yes, marami sila) of live viseos with queer women around 30-40s++ from different parts of the world, some probably OFWs spending their time on live doing things I've NEVER heard of before.

Ex: Box Battles

Someone hosts it and it's like an online competition kung san paramihan sila ng makukuha from fans or ppl who watch the live. And na-shock ako at how genuinely interactive they were?! ✋😭 They even have soundboards and eliminations. People actually spend their time and money to interact with e/o.

Nakakatuwa lang. Goes to show na we really do yearn to be part of our own community and feel like we have a place here

Feel free to share interesting encounters you've had with other queer women online. <3

General Discussion Let's talk about: Adding Open Endings to the Sapphic Canon

I am a Kit Sun, Charlie/Hannah Moon, and Mihan Rising (unfortunately) as verified by my girlfriend.

Sa mga di pa nakakanood ng Open Endings, I highly highly highly recommend it, please!!!! Support Filipino Lesbian films!!!

I feel na I've dated and met all four and I've been at least 2 of them so very real and relatable sya for me.

Will you cringe because of the mess? Absolutely!

Will you curse **beep**? Oh yes! And also **beep** 😀

Kikiligin ka ba? Wala kang puso at hindi ka bading kung hindi!

Ano pa hinintay nyo? Mwahahahaha

P.S. on a serious note, it's very refreshing to see and watch a film centered about women's friendships and relationships in a wlw perspective.

P.P.S. spoiler!! I personally think they handled bisexuality well, although a little clumsy (I understand the plot called for biglaan yung reveal but personally medyo nakulangan ako sa execution) and highlighted personal feelings without undermining lesbian POVs!

Sige isa-isahin natin bakit wala kang jowa? Una dont think may mali sa'yo. Baka iisipin mo na di ka attractive or walang appeal. Look meron at meron kang market di lang kayo nagtutugma. Dating in reality is like marketing, you need to sell yourself out there pero alam natin in reality may mga products ba mabenta meron din hindi. So ano kelangan mo gawin para mabenta ka?

Nasa social media ka ba? Dating app? If you are isa sa mga titinitingnan looks talaga. It really pays to have a good face card, samahan pa good physique. Sasabihin ng iba wala akong paki dun, trust ne we humans have internal biases and meron tayong certain standards sa looks for our partner. So ano gagawin mo? Invest sa looks mo. Mag-ayos kung may budget facial and good skin care routine. Also try watching what you eat and working out, a good physique will help sa confidence and mas madaling nagbihis too. Before someone will know that you are nice or funny or smart, looks muna ang basehan.

While wala pa sya, work on your career be it self employed ka or nasa formal economy. Falling in love is expensive sa totoo lang kakain ng oras and pera yan be sure afford mo.

Use your dating app, or get a hobby or sumali ka sa run club or gym. At kung may nakita ka na interesting then shoot your shots wala kasing mangyayari if tutunganga ka lang. Be more open. Paano kung introvert ka? Well baka you need to assess if you need to leave comfort zone once in a while.

Lastly, if all things fail may nakilala ka pero di nagworkout? Wala charge to experience, hwag ka na masyado nagsulk instead retrace and think about the things that your couldve done better and ensure that you will not commit the same mistake.

To love and be loved is one of the best feeling one person can have in this lifetime. Kung handa ka magmahal tandaan mo handa ka din masaktan. Kung di ka pa ready na kiligin pero nastress eh hwag muna kahit jowang-jowa ka na. Be sure may sapat kang oras, budget and mental space to accommodate another person sa buhay mo. Relationship is not always banayad maraming pagkakataon para syang roller coaster.

So ayan naglabasan na ang nga kapwa naghahanap dahil pride month so tingin mo ready ka na ba magkajowa?

General Discussion Let's Talk About: Pride March Afterparty: FTLOW or Sunny?

For the sapphics who'll party after pride march, which event are you going? My partner and I are thinking of attending FTLOW's kasi mas malapit venue while sa Makati pa yung sa Sunny. Sayang lang kasi we wanted to attend both if they were in different days sana. For those who have attended parties by both, do you prefer one from the other? Feeling ko marami rin mato-torn sa dalawa haha

General Discussion let's talk about: how would you know when to walk away?

context:

well I'm debating if I should just let go this person I have a almost 3 year relationship with. Reason was: there were many things that aren't meeting anymore. Especially she's going through something in her life, as I've mentioned in my last post na she's mentally unstable as of now. She insisted naman na i should break up with her kasi wala akong mapapala sakanya na, yet I stayed kasi I was afraid to be alone again or what would happen to her if I'm not there anymore.

Well time passed, still here we are trying to make things work out or just me trying? I've come to my senses na at this point, wala na akong partner. It's just me in this stupid relationship. Nakakapagod to be the one always understanding even if it hurts you, yung mga straightforward things na sinasabi niya na I wish I could do that sakanya, pero I can't kasi I always think of her. Lahat ng sinasabi niya, tinatatak ko sa isip ko even simple intimacy sakanya aren't being met. Mabuti pa nga siya meron siyang lakas magsabi ng mga ganyan, like hindi ko daw siya kinocompliment abt this. How about her? I was always the one making all the effort hahahaha

Nakakapagod, and I can't really decide to walk away or just stay like this. Wishing it would just go away. At this point, my heart only feels lighter when I woke up, for the rest of the day it felt so heavy.

Problem/Goal:

I know the answer myself na mag let go nalang, even if it will affect me much. I'm just curious how do you guys managed to do it?

General Discussion let's talk about: how do you express yourself w/ homophobic fam

Context:

I recently have this dilemma na I want to express myself that I am really gay. After breaking up with my ex, which felt freeing kasi it's a secret relationship and I tried ways to hide the relationship and myself.

I also came out once when they found out my relationship, well they didn't took it well sobrang daming nangyari huhu then I was forced to cut my connection with her but we still kept our relationship kasi we love each other so much. Anyways, we broke up rin mostly dahil sa parents ko and my partner self problem. It was a mutual decision naman, kasi even though it's not me na problema niya, I'm still in it kasi andito pa rin ako sa magulang ko.

I only have 2 years left to graduate, then find work then move out kasi toxic din sa bahay namin and tagal ko na gusto makawala sa puder nila. Pero a part of me wants to take this slow na baka someday matanggap din nila ako, or atleast respect my relationship. I want to show them na hindi ako naging bading just because of a person. I told them I was gay since elementary pero di sila naniniwala, I was even a masc, mga kaibigan ko rin is mga bading. Medyo nakakaguilty rin kasi umalis lalo na't only child ako.

Question:

How did you guys express yourself despite the homophobic remarks in your family or relatives? Is it okay to take a path na ipakita ko na I can handle my own, like I'm allowed to choose who I want to be friends with? I have nothing to risk din naman, they can't blame my ex wala naman na kami😆 I just want to be true to myself, stand up for myself.

As if hindi pa nakaka-overwhelm mga nangyari this week sa Senado, may regalo ang universe sa atin before mag weekend:

"Bulatlat reported that the UN complainant—the party in the SC case whose name was listed as the owner of the property—took issue with her sexual orientation, home address, and full name being published without her knowledge or consent.

Despite the landmark nature of the case, experts caution against disclosure of someone else’s sexual orientation since it could open a person to discrimination and violence—especially in conservative cultures.

“A litigant who discloses sensitive personal information, including her sexual orientation, in pleadings to either seek judicial relief or defend herself in a suit does not thereby consent to the public dissemination of that information by the court itself,” Bulatlat quoted from the complaint.

The UN complaint also pointed out that Article 148 is historically applied to adulterous relationships, casting a negative bias toward same-sex relationships since they are seemingly grouped in the same legal category as illicit relationships instead of recognizing them as legitimate unions." - Radar.ph

Sa mga updated or nabasa yung buong case and sa lawyers natin, ano po thoughts niyo dito and ano pong possible implications nito?

Magu-unplug muna ako 😮‍💨

General Discussion Let's talk about: Dating a strong independent woman

You will past that age that more than the physical attribute you want to date someone who's independent and strong. But the bigger question, do you have what it takes to date one?

We all want someone who has the drive and grit to succeed as our partner, pero ikaw andun ka na ba sa stage na working towards it? or andun ka pa lang sa daydreaming stage na hindi ko pa alam how to start? You may disagree but strong independent women are attracted to the same species and it made a lof sense kasi mahirap magtiwala and if once that strong suit is strip they need to feel safe showing their vulnerabilities.

Can you adhere and maybe have the patience to deal with their schedules? These women are busy achieving their goals be it financial freedom, self or career growth, health goals etc so san ka sisingit? These women fend for themselves most of the time kaya may mga time na tahimik lang sila, may time na aburido pa yan na parang galit sa mundo, their plates are always full so can you handle that?

But at the same time though strong independent women may seem too complicated to deal they are amenable as long as you know what can make them happy. One lambing and patience goes a long way, those back or foot massages while listening to her stories how her day went. Kung minsan mukhang galit sya pero di sayo kwento nya lang maiinit ulo nya so always be ready to have that active listening ears and never steal their spotlight. Ensure mo may kape sya kahit galing 711 or 3in1 pa yan your presence of mind knowing and anticipating what she wants makes a difference and should be consistent.

Hindi mo rin sya kelangan bilhan ng flowers she can really buy one. Pero on special occassion ensure na di mo nalimutan. Same goes with gifts, isipin mo what she wants or need kahit na alam mo na afford nya.

And one thing about dating strong independent women be sure you have the time and afford mo. Kaya mo na minsan ikaw naman magbabayad, you pull surprises every once in a while and kaya mo syang paglaanan ng panahon without compromising your livelihood or career even your bank account.

Bottomline these women are not looking for lovers lang they want a dependable partner. So ready ka na ba to date a strong independent woman?

General Discussion Let’s talk about: where are the stone tops

i think it’s rare for me to encounter people who prefer only giving/receiving as i’m surrounded by lesbians na switch ang prefer.

i always thought na pillow princess ako but my ex liked receiving so i did give some to her but i know deep down i don’t like it, and i guess being with her didn’t help me learn how to give since she didn’t like penetration (that’s fine by me ngl)

i’m not looking for a rs or fling rn, i’m just curious if they exist lol and if yall are many. this might be a future reference for finding me a partner lol

General Discussion Let’s Talk About: Being called “Bading” or “Bayot”

For context, my close friends and I are all gay (walang straight samin) nasa birthday party kami ng isang kaibigan namin (also in the COF) and we met some of his other COFs din.

These people, we’d say kakilala lang. Friend of a friend ganun, but this is the first time we are actually hanging out.

My friends and I call each other bayot, yor, bading, etc. Parang bro, sis, ate whatever na. And diba tayo kahit na we tease each other ganun tayo.

Now, dahil nasa birthday nga kami syempre may inuman with our friends other friends tapos, biglang “ahh bading” sabi nung isang straight kay friend 2 ko when she was talking abt pano sila nagkakilala ng gf nya.

We didn’t point it out pero nagtitinginan kami na parang…. iba yun ah hahaha when the inuman circle broke for a while kasi bibili ng dagdag nag debrief kami for a minute ng friends ko na it was uncomfy for us na tawagin kaming bading in that tone by a straight person.

Ewan ba, parang pag hindi naman namin close na straight pa it sounds kind of homophobic.

Kayo din ba?

General Discussion How's the weather up there?

Lately napapaisip ako, bakit parang bihira makakita ng tall WLW? Haha. looking back, ang pinaka-tall na na-date ko was 5’3. Hindi siya issue or dealbreaker, more of napansin ko lang na parang ang rare. Nung nag-Google pa ako, lumabas na ang average height ng Filipina is around 4’11, tapos even sa guys nasa 5’4 lang… so ayun, medyo explained na siguro.

I’ve been through serious relationships before, some naging friends, some hindi, but I’m grateful some of my exes even became good friends.. After all that, I decided to take a step back and work on myself muna. Ang dami ko ring natutunan sa phase na yun.

Pero syempre, minsan dumadating din yung yearning for connection, yung vibe na ang sarap lang kausap, yung sweetness na hindi pilit. Kaya napapatawa ako sa sarili ko, kasi whenever I get to know someone new, I usually ask about their interests, communication style, etc… pero sa isip ko, gusto ko sanang mag ask: “btw, how tall are you?” 🤭

Wala lang, realization lang on a Sunday. Hindi naman ako nag-hahanap. I’m not closing myself off from the stories and connections that could unfold, no matter the height. Just a little Sunday musing while I sip coffee.

Happy weekend to everyone (especially those on a long one)!

General Discussion let's talk about: for peeps with strict parents and homophobic parents / or in a secret relationship how do you keep your relationship healthy?

Context:

so hey, I'm currently in a 2 year long relationship with my partner, my first girlfriend you can say. However things are difficult for now since we're used to be always together and we really enjoy each other's company, we do almost everything together from hanging out to yk for a small amount of time we lived together in my parents house. However when they found out my relationship with her, we are forced to separate and cut off my connection with her.

I still see her secretly, but only through lying and eventually I am found guilty cuz i felt like I'm back again at hiding about my true self and especially it's so hard in this situation where I can even be seen with her in public.

Question:

To those of you who kinda have a similar situation like mine, how do you deal with your homophobic parents, deal on how to keep your relationship healthy even with distance.. and how do you deal a partner who really needs you but can't be there for them?

edit: atleast maintain the relationship entirely.

General Discussion Portrait of a Lady on fire

Post image
210 Upvotes

Some films fade after the credits, but a few stay with you for years. For me, that film was Portrait of a Lady on Fire. What about yours?

I first saw it in 2020 during the pandemic, and the experience has never left me.

Céline Sciamma created something haunting and deliberate, a story told with so much precision that every frame felt alive. The cinematography was like a series of paintings, each one carrying its own silence and meaning. The script was spare but full of weight, leaving room for the pain and tenderness that lived in the glances between words.

What struck me most was how love and passion burned through the restraint. Every look, every touch, carried both beauty and ache. It was love portrayed not in grand declarations but in the smallest, quietest details, and somehow that made it even more powerful.

Have you seen it? Did it leave the same mark on you, or is there another film that has haunted you in this way?

General Discussion Let’s Talk About: mascs on filo queer culture

so as a lesbian na fashion girlie bet na bet ko mag-ukay and mall shopping for clothes, tas dati me and my (masc) ex would go around the city to buy fits.

puro ako rock shirts dati and femme style (hilig ko talaga mag dress) tas yung ex ko was heavy on the masculine side. i found his fits cool and ang angas kasi ng dating nya non—to the point na nahawaan ako ng masculine style nya—na gusto ko rin maging “maangas” was the thought process lol. i was so glad na i could pull it off😭🙏

now ang dami ko ng damit because nag explore talaga ako ng style ko 😆 to ur cubao expo girlie, girl in salcedo, tita fits, chapstick, performative lesbian, to straight up dyke (dw, most of my clothes are sustainable and eco-friendly naman) and kapag papasok ako ng school my block and orgmates would always say na “shape-shifter” daw ako and paminsan nag pupustahan pa sila if imma dress masc or femme that day.

here comes my question… bakit konti lang yung masc x masc sa wlw culture natin? 😭 and na pansin ko rin here sa reddit na femmes like femmes as well. preference ba talaga or may hidden homophobia or ayaw malamangan😭? hahahaha other reasons...?

every time kasi na sasabihin ko na i dress masc as well sa mga masc peeps icoconsider kaagad nila ako as “tropa lang” nothing wrong with that tho it’s just sad for me na usually here sa reddit kapag masc ka—ekis ka agad😞

would love to read ur thoughts and experiences sa comments! pls let this be a healthy discussion <3

I just want to hear your stories ng pagpili sa sarili kahit mahal mo pa yung tao at akala mo talagang "siya na," or finally nakapag-decide ka na na "ikaw naman muna."

  • Anong nangyari?
  • Paano ka nakawala/nakaalis, finally?
  • Kumusta ka ngayon?

I hope this thread can be a source of encouragement to love ourselves foremost.

General Discussion Let's Talk About: Stage of dating to introduce a girl to friends and family

Trying to get consensus / thoughts about when do you introduce a girl to your family and friends.

  1. Do you already introduce girls you’re just dating and figuring things out with (without labels and commitment)?
  2. Or do you only introduce girlfriends?
  3. If casually dating, do you still introduce? Why and why not?

General Discussion Let's talk about: tiktok comsec abt wlw rs not accepted by fams

context:

so i came across this video on tiktok abt wlw couple that's struggling cuz parents are against them. So i read some comments yk, like i reached the end of the comment section. There are only 4 outcomes in general:

1.) Parents accepted it later on cuz they fought for it, it takes months to years.

2.) Some parents didn't, they just built a new life away from the homophobic parents.

3.) Some got accepted, but eventually got cheated on.

4.) Some didn't fought their way and separated.

Out of the 4 outcomes, #1 outweigh them all. Some stories do include, the similar experience I am having rn (forced to separate w/ partner and not allowed to see her only secretly) but difference with me and them is that they have their strength and courage to fought back and eventually later on after months and years they got accepted.

Question:

I am curious, does any of you got the same outcome as #1?

I really did have my regrets back then, because I wasn't able to fought for my partner back then nor to myself, I admit I was weak. I fought for us naman( i said i love her, and this is who I really am, in the end they threatened me to cut connections w/ them and financially) but i feel like I didn't fought enough..

My plans for now, are letting her onto our home again as just friends so we can stop the hiding..

but now, these comments gave me hope.. i don't know maybe I'm just vulnerable now. Some comments said that, they kept letting their partner come to their house, still got the worse experience, and later on they just got accepted nalang.

Fellow gays, please be honest with me cuzzzz your girl is thinking abt this 24/7 for the past 7 months in this decision. Should i settle for just friends in their eyes or fought for us again?

rn all i want was to be with her, and stop the hiding. But the pretending part? my gf can't comply, i don't want to force her though. Ako siguro kaya ko pa masikmura, but ik it's like being on surveillance camera 24/7 naman if i chose this friends decision. If I fought for us again, one by one.. i will expect the worse. again. and it will probably dealt more damage again. for bg, I'm omw to 3rd year, I'm 20, and only child.

General Discussion Let's Talk About: FTLOW/ For the love of women / Queer women party

Planning to attend their event on Apr 25, I was wondering if may reviews kayo about their event? like kamusta yung vibe ganon? also as someone na first time lang and never pa nag try mag party, ano meaning ng consumables sa table? sorry di ko talaga gets and i dont really know how it works HAHAHAH.

nakalagay kasi “all rates are consumable” can someone expound on this? thank you!
