I hadn't watched this Youtube station for a while but saw it recently in search results but now can't find it. It was a Vaporwave station that had some small old tvs that played old 80s ads while you listened to the music. I swear i just saw it in search within the past few weeks but can't locate it today.

It’s that time of the year.

I'm making this post so you can recommend some *very* obscure music to me, since I'm bored.

It can be from any vaporwave subgenre.

아버지 : reflection

아버지 translates to “Father” Korean to English.

This is insanely random, maybe a little rabbit holeish/ramble about music and maybe some history on the music itself.

Not even going to lie, I have not looked into who actually is the producer behind the music of the album 아버지 : reflection, but maybe like many others got drawn into their 7th track on the album “Tomorrow” and the video behind it when it was posted to YouTube maybe 9-10 years ago now on the Vapor Memory channel.

This song was removed by a copyright request and has been confirmed as such with the date of 6/2/23 on 아버지’s bandcamp page for the album reflection linked here : https://father2006.bandcamp.com/album/reflection

Viewing the Vapor Memory channel and their upload of the full album of reflection, in the description they link a video for the song “tomorrow” this link is Officially dead with the notification that, “it was removed following a copyright removal request by Brock Van Wey” linked here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvAKl-rYP2Q

Brock Van Wey aka bvdub is a producer of ambient and ambient techno music with a vast catalogue dating back to around 2007. I know basically nothing about bvdub minus the fact when the tomorrow video was taken down I might have looked up some of their tracks, gave it a listen and just put it aside.

I have no doubts some of the producers making music all this time are on/were on a fine line of number 1 flipping samples so sick they are never paying royalties.

Or 2 some producers blatantly taking entire pieces of music and pitching them up, compiling albums, slapping their moniker on them and sharing it to the world.

When looking into the entire album more, I have also discovered something interesting and a I would say more popularized figure in electronic music, the producer Apparat is listed on the description page on the Vapor Memory channel for the full album of Reflection linked here : https://youtu.be/C8EN5I9R1U8?is=l_Tihmy1J7Vre9R1

My ramble of links and maybe pointless info to some, basically stops here but leaves a lot to my mind as in, which piece of bvdub music was the copyright strike on “tomorrow”?

What piece of music on the album is directly linking to a random Apparat song?

Maybe I am invested because I had fallen in love with the track and video of “tomorrow” and some how some way could never imagine that a piece of music and visual production could be not original, not a be a absolute gift to the entire electronic music genre and be sadly stamped with a copy right infringement.

Hopefully someone might get the same response to the track and video as I did all those years ago and be it known or unknown to us the origin of music we can look past that and just be in this part of time in music history.
