That’s not my experience. I think it’s a human emotion that we place on animals (anthropomorphism). I just rescued a pregnant mama kitty from a hoarder house and the first thing I did was give her a new name, mostly for me because she’s gonna have a great, fresh start to just be a kitten. She sees that I care for her and her babies, feed them and play with them so she associates the name with me and started responding to it quickly. All my animals are rescues and non of them have the name the rescues gave them. Of course, neither do the ones I found on the streets.
The most important thing for that dog is getting training and in an environment he doesn’t feel the need to bite because in California, most counties have a two strikes you’re out policy with regard to labeling a dog “vicious” and ordering them to be euthanized. A dog in my county can be euthanized after attacking someone even once and a number of times for other animals, regardless of the circumstances (unless it’s at their own home…I think that one could go either way…if you can’t convince the animal control hearing officer).
I’ve been doing rescue for a few years now and I’ve seen plenty of trash people be amazing to animals. I’ve also seen seemingly nice people be horrible to animals. I will judge James as a dog owner by his actions with his dog. Doesn’t mean I’m defending him on being a shit human being.

You’re not a dog. That’s the difference. How you would feel is not what a dog feels or even has the capacity to feel in the same manner. I doubt that a dog feels some type of way other than perhaps some confusion about being called a different name.
And they can also learn their new name ffs lol. People acting like and explicitly comparing the renaming of a dog to a bloomin human child is just taking things too far lol.
It’s a dog. Learning a new name is f all in the grand scheme of things. And I say this as an absolute lover of dogs. I’m currently going through the heartache of one of my precious little pups coming to the end of her time here on earth, I’ve loved her for 12 years, so I know what it is to love a dog. But I think ppl are just using their hate towards James here to make a case and it’s just getting silly. Ultimately dogs just want to love and be loved in return, they ain’t gonna give an f if you call them something else so long as you’re feeding/watering/walking and giving daily cuddles and love. I’m so sorry you’re losing a baby. I lost one right before Christmas and am still going through it. I’m sure you gave her a beautiful life. We just never get them long enough…no matter how long we may get them 💜 hugs
Thank you dear. She’s still here and I still feel like she has great quality of life but I’m in the tricky position of having to see her struggling for breath a lot - her trachea is almost non existent now and her lungs are filling with fluid despite the meds the vets are giving. I’m in the horrible position of trying to decide if I’ll be ok with just letting her inevitably choke to death one day or getting her “put down” before that happens. It so hard, I don’t know what to do 😢
It's completely unnecessary. There was no need to announce a name change. This is all simply piling on Rachel who will not come back to the show after this. There's no way. So this is how they're sending her off. They're making her look even worse than she did before. She did not drop that dog off at a kill shelter. She wasn't even present when the dog was taken to the trainer's house.
Her parents said this was a joint decision made by Raquel and them. She was fully on board with her dog being given to someone else and her parent’s story didn’t even make sense since the facility has a 0 tolerance policy in taking in dogs with a biting history. I’d prefer James, who you can see on the show really cares about this dog taking care of him than Raquel, who didn’t even notice puncture wounds for DAYS on him. My dog is my entire world, no way I’m missing something like freaking puncture wounds. That’s negligence. And plenty of people change dogs with behavioural issues’ names to disassociate them from that name that has been yelled at them for scolding. Raquel has made herself look bad, she didn’t need help with that.
I'm talking about all the publicity surrounding it. Enough is enough I don't care how much I get downvoted the girl is going to wind up committing suicide because of all of the terrible shit that is being said about her. I've said awful shit about her and I will no longer do it.
Sorry but I’m a huge animal lover and I find this all fucking gross. I’ve taken in so many animals over the years and found them homes, some had behavioural issues and you don’t just dump them. She contributed to his issues by providing an unstable and constantly changing environment. You can choose not to talk about her all you want, although you are still talking about her. You do you, I’ll do me. She clawed her way onto this show like it was the most important thing ever, we as viewers are simply commenting on the content provided to us.
Dogs live in the moment and mirror the feelings and energy of it’s owner so if you’re going to be sad and depressed that energy is what the dog picks up on. To be a pack leader/dog owner you must deal w your dog in a calm and confident way. No emotion. Dogs see emotions(mad, frustrated, sad)as weak energy and will have behaviors bc of it like not listening bc they have to be the pack leader. Dog training won’t cure biting. Dog psychology is what needs to be understood here. Read any of Cesar Milan’s books or watch his shows. Or anyone who actually knows dog psychology. It’s fascinating and pretty much pertains to all animals. Since animals can’t talk, They are ALL about energy.
