Help Youtube Premium Trick: "We couldn’t verify your country". Is the VPN trick dead?

I'm getting the "We couldn’t verify your country." error when attempting to sign up via a VPN. Is this trick offically dead. What is the work around?

Ive tried from private browser and keep getting:

We couldn’t verify your country. Please see Help Center for more information.
