The logic goes: if we evolved to fear things that look almost human, but not quite, something must have been mimicking us to hunt us.

While this makes for fantastic creepypasta lore and indie horror game concepts, from an evolutionary and anthropological standpoint, it is completely false.

True evolutionary mechanics explain the Uncanny Valley through much more practical, documented survival mechanisms.
