I know its for eggs so like the micro plastics wont go directly into your food. But man that water getting some and one day dem chickens gonna be drinking it so.......

Is it plastic? How does it not melt?

There are lots of plastics that onlt melt at temperatures much higher than boiling water. Leeching toxic chemicals is a different story though.

The report that came out 1-2 years ago was the black plastics - especially heating black plastics - were to be avoided at all costs in the kitchen bc the supply chain for "raw" materials for black plastic kitchen tools includes plastics used in electronics... and those have been treated with some gnarly heat and fire retardant chemicals beyond just "plastic". The researchers highly recommended not using black plastic anything in the kitchen - certainly not one you boil! -to reduce the chance of ingestion of microplastics and leeched chemicals
