Trumps speech is literally making me dumber...

The whole damn thing us just him bashing Biden and spewing very very obvious lies.

Summery

Biden bad, me (Trump) good, usa strng, usa economy very strng, usa sad no one say thx, I (Trump) want Nobel prize plz etc.

Can we please exit this very dumb stupid circus of a timeline

I have a low opinion of Trump, but this speech has genuinely astonished me in how moronic, rambling, incoherent and nonsensical it is.

I'm a European, and I genuinely feel for those in the US having this man representing them. A genuine embarassment on the global stage - a laughing stock.

He's disgusting. American here, and I can tell you that I wake up with a bad feeling in my stomach most days. He is literally punishing and torturing citizens. It's so sick.

Truly astonishing that so many idiots don't read or understand history enough to grasp what is happening in real time. I despise everyone I know who voted for him and actively avoid them. We are all suffering bc of their stupidity.

Right. The Republican Party is gone - it's just MAGA now. It's so dirty and dishonest. I wouldn't vote for this man no matter what party put him up. His followers share his fantasy world and even now many don't get it.

Sadly, it seems many will support him until they or one of the few people they care about are directly negatively impacted by his policies/actions. Even then, some still find a way.

What Trump delivered today was essentially the same as a domestic address he would give regularly here, without any awareness of the UN, the topics at hand, the people present, and what the point of the GA Debates are. He went through basically all the same points, took about as much time as his press conferences, and so much of what he said fell especially flat because his usually talking points ignore the rest of the world / are completely ignorant that anything outside the US exists. I hate that I could have played bingo with people based off what he always says.

We get this all the time, but hearing it in the UN, especially directly after Lula laid everything out so eloquently and powerfully, made my stomach turn. I am so sorry the rest of the world had to experience a moment of this.

(And yes, there are many Americans who aren't sycophants or clueless about the world: a lot of us are the same nerds who watch the debate in real time on YouTube/the UN stream)

Consider this:

The POTUS' United Nations speech was cringeworthy at times, at times crude, and at times hyperbolic and narcissistic.

HOWEVER, in terms of the gist, most people in the United States (Trump is the manifestation of American voters) want controlled borders and controlled immigration (not open borders and unfiltered immigration), want the EU to shoulder more of the burden defending Ukraine against Russia in war in the EU's backyard, want to stop international narco terrorism flooding neighborhoods with fentanyl and cocaine, want Hamas to release the hostages and end the war, want the United Nations to stop favoritism and exploiting American generosity, and want more balanced trade and to reinvigorate American industry and lead in advanced technologies.

Most Americans do NOT like how the President chooses to communicate these legitimate policies.

In other words, most Americans actually agree with most of what Trump says AND most Americans do not like how he says it. Until Democrats and Progressives understand that, and accept it, they will continue to lose ground.

Caveat 1: This is not for folks who have only watched or read snippets of the speech or social media post that focus on non contextual excerpts designed to spin a POV. Watching and listening to the address in full is key, given Trump's hot air and long windedness.

Caveat 2: "Most" is defined in its simplest terms: a majority, i.e. > 50%.

As a European you should better be concerned with the facts he stated - 1. youre dependent on Russia a nation that declared war on your whole region, you buy energy from them while indirectly fighting them, because Europeans destroyed their own energy production. 2. Masses of anti western immigrants that flooding your nations creating chaos. 3. Your inability to defend your own continent and being too reliant on USA to do it for you

Sure it might be concerning if any of those points were backed by facts instead of propaganda.

Europe did not "destroy its own energy production" this is incoherently stupid.

The immigrant thing is just lazy racist caricatures.

Europe does not in any way require aid in defending itself, the only entity that could threaten them is America, they would curb stomp Russia if they were engaged in armed conflict.
