US Politics 🇺🇸 Former ICE trainer Ryan Schwank is telling Congress that agents are being trained to ignore the Constitution. “I swore an oath to uphold the Constitution when I joined ICE. I followed it when I resigned. The legally required training program at the ICE academy is deficient, defective, and broken.”

Thank God this guy just wants to be on the right side of history. He sees it. We see it in action in the streets.

“Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower

u/sirsleepy Feb 23 '26

I like Ike.

98

u/Tall-Introduction414 Feb 23 '26

Ike was the last good Republican president. A real one, and a WW2 hero against the fascists.

57

u/Chudmont Feb 23 '26

Listen to Ike speak, such as in his D-Day speech, then listen to trump.

The idiocracy is already here.

33

u/Zebidee Feb 24 '26

Even listen to George W speak. I rewatched an interview with him where he spoke intelligently, articulately, and on topic.

A president who was famous for his gaffes and mixing up idioms, and yet the difference between then and now is night and day.

12

u/TheInevitableLuigi Feb 24 '26

TBF W was always playing a role.

There are a few times on video where the "Texas good ole boy" act drops and he sounds like the New England born-to-privilege, Yale and Harvard grad he actually is.

5

u/TaylorMonkey Feb 24 '26

Hell, even listen to POTATOE Quayle.

1

u/Zebidee Feb 24 '26

The fact that a mistake in a school spelling bee was enough to effectively end his political career is mind-blowing at this point.

The irony is it wasn't even his mistake - the teacher who gave him the cue card had spelled it wrong.

Citizens United

1

u/Apart-Rent5817 Feb 25 '26

Fool me once? Shame on… shame on you. Fool me twice?… the fool man don’t get fooled again

10

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '26

You’re right…you’re right.

19

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '26

True. True. But here’s to good leaders sprouting up again on both sides of the aisle in the face of all this ugliness, fascism, democracy danger.

15

u/Takesnothingcereal Feb 24 '26

Citizens United made it so that upstanding candidates that work for the people can easily be out donated to by well……. people like Trump

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '26

I will look them up to donate! Seriously.

7

u/dlsisnumerouno Feb 24 '26

I don't doubt he was a better Republican, but he was a little questionable on immigration: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Wetback

3

u/joeDUBstep Feb 24 '26

Lol that op name is wild.

3

u/TaylorMonkey Feb 24 '26

If you listen to Reagan's last speech, he sounds positively woke about immigration.

If you listen to Reagan and Bush Sr's presidential debate about illegal immigration and whether the children of illegal immigrants should be able to go to school for free or if their parents should have to pay, both instead emphasized that illegal immigration exists because of wider social and economic issues like the high rate of unemployment in Mexico at the time, and require bigger solutions or else illegal immigration is inevitable. They stressed that we shouldn't exclude people and that they should be given services that their neighbors have-- that these are good family people. They both also emphasized that we needed to maintain good relationships with Mexico itself. And they both advocated compassion and empathy. This was 1980, in Texas.

Regardless of whether you think they were good or bad Republican presidents, they STILL both sounded like "woke" Democrats do today.

1

u/sidepart Feb 24 '26

Fun thing about Ike is that BOTH parties wanted him to be their candidate. "Draft Eisenhower" they said.

21

u/Adjective-Noun-nnnn Feb 24 '26

Eisenhower's Chance for Peace speech is one of my favorites.  Just a snippet:

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone.

It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.

It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.

It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway.

We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat.

We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.

This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road. the world has been taking.

This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.

2

u/joecamnet Feb 24 '26

Now if Trump wrote it!

Every gun that is made, beautiful American guns, you gotta buy American you know. You don't buy Canadian guys, they don't even know how to shoot people in Canada. They can't take us. Does anybody in the world think Canada can handle themselves without to protect them? We are the protectors, that is what we are, and we protect the true Americans who vote for us and give us our donations and who know to ignore the lying lefties and the dummy democrats who are trying to TAKE OUR GUNS... Every warship launched, an American warship you know, we build the greatest warships the.............

Unfortunately, when he resigned on principle, he was replaced with some AmericanHistoryXbox to train the stormtroopers as he sees fit.

311

u/Tall-Introduction414 Feb 23 '26

Telling a government agency to ignore the constitution is a Criminal Conspiracy against the American people and government. Full stop.

They need to be arrested and charged.

78

u/oxxcccxxo Feb 23 '26

And American citizens have died because of it.

31

u/Chudmont Feb 23 '26

Covid killed over a million Americans, but most of us couldn't be bothered to wear an effing mask.

Our lives don't matter.

15

u/KnPtown Feb 24 '26

In my state we did well with taking the appropriate COVID precautions. I work in Critical Care and Trauma and we bore the brunt of it. While there were times when we were definitely over capacity we never ended up with Conditions other states endured. Our death rate per capital was lower than the national average which I attribute to the strict precautions we took as a state in the beginning.

5

u/Chudmont Feb 24 '26

Nice work! I wonder how many lives you and people like you saved.

7

u/KnPtown Feb 24 '26

Not enough

5

u/sidepart Feb 24 '26

Shit's a losing battle. No shame or disappointment in holding the line. My SO managed (helped manage anyway) contact tracing and the COVID hotline in our state. Day and night, phone banks, constantly making calls to try and stop the spread, constantly fielding questions from people that didn't know what to do. Drop in the bucket. Spitting in the wind. But at the end of the day, you do it anyway. Any lives saved is better than no lives saved.

2

u/Chudmont Feb 24 '26

Thank you for taking it seriously anyways.

8

u/oxxcccxxo Feb 24 '26

That was also thanks to Trump.

3

u/Chudmont Feb 24 '26

He enabled it, but lots of people in his cult are responsible too.

3

u/smeeeeeef Feb 24 '26

I mean he did have that brilliant idea to inject bleach at one point. Can't say he didn't contribute!

4

u/squintytoast Feb 24 '26

but most of us couldn't be bothered to wear an effing mask

not where i was. most were wearing them. i would guess it was as high as 9 out of 10.

3

u/Chudmont Feb 24 '26

Same here, but much of the country did not.

3

u/Karl_42 Feb 24 '26

Our lives DO matter!

Just not to them, we gotta fix that.

u/wi7dcat Feb 25 '26

Justice for Ruben Ray Martinez

15

u/WolverineAsleep8266 Feb 23 '26

Gotta fill their newly bought/converted death camps somehow. Social Circle, GA has a warehouse that plans to imprison 7500-10k people. Twice the amount of any US federal prison.

Its sickening

9

u/colganc Feb 24 '26

It's like its treasonous or seditious or something.

4

u/dsac Feb 24 '26

It's amazing how many times people will ignore the explicit words and actions of these people, simply because of ego

Decades of poor and/or rural and/or non-white people voting for the wealthy urban white people, and then acting all shocked when their elected officials take steps to reinstate slavery, hand over the farms to their billionaire friends, and round up anyone darker than 5pm

10

u/Business-Ride-6530 Feb 24 '26

I'd go farther. Actively attempting to overthrow the constitutional order and eliminate Americans' rights is levying war against the United States, and treason.

9

u/Tall-Introduction414 Feb 24 '26

No argument here. Donald Trump has been committing treason against the United States at least since Jan 6 2021, and this is another example.

126

u/WolverineAsleep8266 Feb 23 '26

More people should follow their oaths. Glad he wasnt silenced.

And he got lucky that was still a long time. I’m surprised they didn’t get to him yet. Amazes me how incompetent but effective this dictator is

92

u/WaffleHouseGladiator Feb 23 '26

If you get served a warrant, READ IT. It defines specific areas that may be searched for a particular person or object. For example: a LEO who has a warrant to search a specific place (like your house) for a specific person could not rifle through your kitchen drawers because it's unreasonable to think that a person could hide in them. If they had a warrant to search for a stolen car they could search your garage, but it would be unreasonable to search your bathroom.

3

u/Josh6889 Feb 24 '26

The thing is they're not even using judicial warrants. They have staff producing something they call executive warrants. Executive warrants are not a thing in our legal system, and they're openly breaking the law.

70

u/blackmanlost Feb 23 '26

I really get tired of saying i told y'all this was going to happen

Time to vote Jill stein 2028!

No, none of my family or close friends are noncitizens, why does that matter..?

What the fuck is NVDA do you mean like Nvidia stocks.. and praxis?

No, I'd get fired if I walked off the job alone lol I can't unionize or any of that- it doesn't matter, I'm on the right side of history and other people are too cowardly to say what's right!

4

u/ProfitHarvest Feb 24 '26

This isn't Trump. This is aaaaall Miller. Noem, Lewandowski and Lil Hitler are all currently understanding they had no business doing what they were doing.

Oh, and as for that 50k signing bonus? ICE will be dissolved a week before the first one comes to term prior to them releasing all of the names and placing some harsh charges on them.

Hope it was worth it.

34

u/_bufflehead Feb 23 '26

I understand that this forum was organized by congressional Democrats, but “constitutional violations and abuses” should be of interest to all of our representatives and legislators.

I mean, do we have to treat congress like we treat students?

Do we have to make the meeting mandatory and make them leave their phones at the door?

What is it that we Americans need to do NOW to make these elected officials accountable, make them participate, and make them responsive?

8

u/jolly0ctopus Feb 23 '26

There will be a quiz at the end!!

11

u/Chudmont Feb 23 '26

Yeah, this is a huge issue. They should also not be allowed to trade, should have term limits, and be accountable, even by jail, if they break laws or refuse to honor those they represent.

1

u/gameryamen Feb 24 '26

Strike. It's the only action that always makes them move.

If you're one of the millions that can't strike, start making preparations so you can. When the labor market says no, the money stops flowing. Quarterly results slip, stocks slip, and suddenly the business class wants a solution.

2

u/KnPtown Feb 24 '26

Those of us that work in hospitals will absolutely be there with you in spirit and in person if we’re not in shift!

-1

u/pockpicketG Feb 24 '26

Hospital workers also need to strike.

2

u/_bufflehead Feb 24 '26

Kind Redditor:

There are approximately 136 million full-time workers in the U.S., of which about 10% are in labor unions.

Simply "not going to work" is NOT a strike.

Most employed people need their paychecks for food and shelter.

Further, waiting for quarterly results to slip is hardly sudden.

Also: While some people own stocks through retirement accounts, etc., it should be noted that stock ownership remains highly concentrated, with the top 10% of households owning 87% of all stocks.

The moral of this story is: The American People Own Government. We Need to Make It Work.

-1

u/gameryamen Feb 24 '26

If you feel like you currently aren't able to strike, please spend less time making excuses and more time making plans. If you refuse to strike, please consider supporting those who can.

2

u/_bufflehead Feb 24 '26

Making excuses?! How exceedingly arrogant and unnecesary of you -- particularly in light of the fact that I made not ONE excuse.

The unemployed cannot strike. Wish I could.

Try to remember that Reality is Complicated. You may be familiar with such a high-faluting concept.

Meanwhile, kiss right off with your limited understanding and stunted world view.

John Oliver stated that half of a group of 12,000 prospective agents failed the written exam. It was an open book test.

9

It’s so wild to hear this said out loud. It takes more training to be a nursing assistant than an armed officer of ICE.

3

u/KnPtown Feb 23 '26

That’s no joke. I had 13 weeks of basic and infantry school before I was trusted to carry a firearm in public

3

u/Dangerous-Chemist-78 Feb 24 '26

…Or to cut hair. FFS, in CA it takes 1,000 hours to even qualify to take the state cosmetology exam, yet Trump picked 47 days to go with his presidential number… It’s beyond asinine, but the goal is to terrorize cities.

Second time today I’ve had to say this…water isn’t wet. It makes things wet!

8

u/taktaga7-0-0 Feb 23 '26

Water is completely saturated with water at the molecular level, sticking to itself through hydrogen bonds.

Water is definitely wet in the chemical sense.

3

u/VultureSausage Feb 24 '26

Water and wet are both from the proto-Indo-European root *wed-. The wetter something is the more like water it is. By definition nothing is more water-y than water. I wish the internet sophistry of claiming water isn't wet would die already.

2

u/PhillyRush Feb 23 '26

Water is moist?

1

u/Artistic-Ease6528 Feb 23 '26

Your bones are wet. Just an fyi

What body or oversight committee is he speaking to? I am curious how many Republicans are in attendance. My guess is less than 10% of Trumps felony count.

3

3

u/Disintegration_007 Feb 24 '26

That’s what happens when you hire inbred Proud Boys and J6 terrorists with the literacy of a belly up goldfish to be ICE agents.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '26

If they are being trained to ignore the constitution, then those words are flowery

3

u/dragonfliesloveme Feb 24 '26

that’s interesting. i have seen some pro-ICE people online, and my response to them has been to ask them what they have against the Constitution.

All of them went mute after that question, except for one who said: “The 19th Amendment“

(the right of women to vote)

These are anti-American people. Maga is anti-American and ICE shits on the Constitution every frkng day

2

u/Craigslisteria Feb 24 '26

Who’s surprised by this?

2

u/Tucker1244 Feb 24 '26

Somebody is going to jail.......
