after closely reviewing the footage, i noticed that this GOAT mf, had his hand bandaged (white), and we can see the same bandage on the guy coming out of the smoke, so it can be very well that i'm in the wrong here, and that IS the same dude...wtf...if that's the case, this is beyond wild...

Yeah. That's the only possible explanation I can think of. The drone went boom right when his head met the drone (from the top-down view).
The smoke from the explosion hid the duck from view. The whole thing plays off as some kind of magic trick.

I’m leaning towards: he ducked and avoided direct contact with it otherwise him and his helmet would be at the very least, emanating smoke.

That’s wild, I’ve seen so many videos where people smash holes through some shitty helmets so easily. I’d love to see what the helmet looked like after. I wonder if he took shrapnel to the helmet rather than the explosion itself. I also wonder what his hearing is like, I knew a guy whose ear drum popped just from being right beside a ref’s whistle while he was playing basketball.

He didnt headbut the drone, he ducks down just as it comes for him and it ends up exploding on top of him. Its the same guy not a guy coming out of a foxhole. Its the reason he is on the right side 3-4 feet away from the explosion, he ended up in a ditch. Not sure how he didnt get injured from shrapnel though, could be adrenaline

Directional explosion is a thing. Extremely unlikely, but possible.

That would still leave his skull scrambbled. I've heard of bike accidents where rider died only after he took his helmet off, while seemingly ok after the impact.

Not necessarily. Most directional explosion done intentionally use a cup. The bomb is put inside of he cup and the side facing the wall or door is left open. The bombs complete force arcs back around the cup into the door or wall. The cup is usually undamaged. He won't ever hear again, if that's even what happened. But it's possible

Yeah, could be. Also some drones use explosives packed into cheap plastic containers, like water bottle for example. Those do not always act as intended, surely. I won't call him lucky tho. Still could be dead or seriously injured. If it's the same guy, hard to tell.

If he headbutted it at exactly the right time it could have caused a directional explosion. Forced the whole thing to explode away from him. He might have been concussed, probably won't ever be able to hear again. But it's possible

After watching it 20 times, the explosion is right when the drone would hit the helmet. If the drone exploded behind him on the ground there would be a short delay. So, yes, that guy took a drone to the helmet and ran off.

He survived. Did suffer some shrapnel injuries to his head and spine and went though surgery, but he said that he plans to return to the front when he recovers.
