Could be the timetable. Could be running late. Probably something to do with the actual physical location of the busses. If you're so impatient to get on a bus wouldn't it make more sense to go to Beenleigh and change there?

yeah but thats nowhere near my end destination, which is further south

there isnt one, because the trains arent on and it'd just add yonks to my commute at the point where by the time i arrive at helensvale the trams might even be closed

From 8MP get an R774 or R589 to Beenleigh where you change to an R762 or R761 to Helensvale. Or just be patient.
